The Weekly Smile for July 6, 2020 #weeklysmile

weeklysmile2a

It was an odd week, though for the most part good, and plenty to smile about.  But one thing stood out.

Some of you may know that I post music on occasion.  When I say “music”, I mean my music.  Sometimes people are enthusiastic about it.  Sometimes I get a yawn ;)

I hadn’t posted anything new in a while, so I dug out the first movement of my Piano Sonata in g minor, did a quick video, and put it up.  You know, just as a place holder while I come up with some new music.

The response has been surprising. Continue reading

Sorry I am posting this so late.  I had last week off of work and to say I am super far behind would be a huge understatement.  I am taking a couple of minutes while I eat lunch to put something down.

After reading that last paragraph, can you guess my smile for the week?  Hint – it is not coming back to work with almost 1000 emails in my inbox ;)

That is correct – I am smiling because I had a vacation lats week! Continue reading

What made you smile?

The Weekly Smile for 6/22/2020 #weeklysmile

Hi all.  I’m a little late posting this because I just got back from a very long walk on the beach.  I waded in the water a bit, watched crabs and other aquatic life.  Ah, summer.

Saturday was the first day of summer.  I walked on the beach Saturday, went running along a different beach, kayaked, had a fire in the fire pit in the evening and other summery things.  It was a hot day, but nice. Continue reading

What made you smile?

The Weekly Smile for 6/15/2020 #weeklysmile

This is going to be another week of little things.  But then, we do need to smile about the little things, don’t we?

In the last week there have been some beautiful views of the Wapack Range while running, seeing a deer while running, seeing all of the birds and “critters” when out and about, Zoom “meetings” with family, talking to friends while out and about, playing with the dogs, a lot of farm fresh veggies, spending huge amounts of time outside, playing the piano, listening to good music and just enjoying being alive :)

That is my smile for this week – all of those little things that make up life.

What made you smile?

The Weekly Smile for the Eighth of June, 2020

weeklysmile2a

There is a lot going on this week, some smiles, some not so much.  Of course I am at work and just have a minute, so I will do a quick smile :)

I was on Cape Cod over the weekend and, as I always do, I was kayaking.  At one point a seal came up close and looked at me, but disappeared.  On my way back, it came up again, even closer and watched me for quite a while.  of course I didn’t have my camera….  After it went under, I paddled for slow and soft, watching for it.  Sure enough, a minute or two later, I heard a sound right behind me.  I turned, and there it was just a couple of feet off the back of my boat.  My guess is it would have watched me for a while, but when I turned I think I startled it.  It stayed up for just a second or two longer, then dipped under.  I paddled slow for a while, but didn’t see it again.

The seals are curious but easily frightened.  I have seen them up close, but rarely as close as this one. Continue reading
