If We Were Having Coffee on the 8th of December, 2018

Coffee in NH with Moog

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in out of the cold!  Shut the door quickly!  Brrrr.  It’s cold out there.  OK, smarty, I know, I keep the house pretty cool, what with over 45 inefficient windows and such I can’t afford to heat the entire world.  But I will get you a large mug of steaming hot, ultra-strong French Roast (yeah, I’m back to that for now) or a cuppa tea of hot cocoa.  You’ll need it!  It has been cold here all week, just peaking above freezing for a few hours a day before plunging down again.  Today it will not reach freezing.  This is January weather.  At least there was no snow.  And where are are we that we are freezing so?  Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as coming from New Hampshire.

What did I do besides freeze?  I worked.  I walked and played with the dogs.  For some reason they just wanted to play and not walk this week.  I went running a few times.  I bundle up with many layers.  I got a hair cut. Continue reading

If We Were Having Coffee on the First of December

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a large Sumatra Roast, a cuppa tea or whatever.  Well, since it is pretty late, a bit after 4 PM and already dark, we might want to skip the coffee and go straight for the “whatever” ;)  It was a cool day, cloudy most of the time, though with a few peeks of sun now and again.  Where are we?  Some of you may recognize those mugs as being from Cape Cod – The bat is actually from the Edward Gorey House in Yarmouth, just a few miles down the road.

A lot went on, but little to write about.  Obviously, I am on the Cape again.  There is a reason, but it might be a while before I get into details (weeks, perhaps a month or two).  I don’t mean to be secretive, but you’ll understand. Continue reading

If We Were Having Coffee on the 24th of November, 2018

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get a you a nice large mug of a very strong Sumatra Roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage.  It is a little cool, but much warmer than it has been.  It was frigid for a few days there!  Today will be back up to normal for this time of year.  That will be nice after being 25 degrees F below normal!!  Also the howling wind is gone.  So where am I?  Some of you may recognize the photo at the top of all of those Beatles mugs as coming from Cape Cod (I am using the Sgt. Peppers mug now).

This was Thanksgiving week.  I took time off of work so only was there for two days.  Ah, I am looking forward to retired life ;)  I drove down here Tuesday evening.  I’ve visited the beach a few times, but this morning was my first time doing my routine of Chapin’s Beach first thing.  It was quite and a very nice walk. If We Were Having Coffee on the 17th of November, 2018

coffee-in-the-snow

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get a nice large mug of a very strong Sumatra Roast, a cuppa tea or other warm beverage.  As you can plainly see, it snowed Thursday into Friday.  Today will be a little warmer so some will melt, but with over 6 inches, it may be here for a while.  And where are we?  Some may recognize the photo as… wait!  A new Coffee Share photo!  It was taken two minutes ago (I literally stopped writing, ran out and took this!) Well, the stone wall is Granite, if that helps.  No?  I am in New Hampshire.

It was an odd week.  Weather-wise it was like January, not November.  Temperatures were 20 or 25 degrees F below normal, staying below freezing for over tow days.  And then, as I said, we had the snow.  Brrr.  This entire autumn has been wet and cold.  (Tuesday was 40 F and pouring rain all day…)  It doesn’t bode well for winter… Continue reading

If We Were Having Coffee on the 10th of November

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of a very strong Sumatra roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage.  It is damp out there, but no longer rain.  It’s also cool, though it doesn’t feel bad when put of the wind.  I took a long walk on a windy, wet beach this morning (just took off my soaking socks) and it was a little more raw than when I was out back playing with the dogs earlier.  And where am I that is wet and cool with empty windy beaches to explore?  Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as coming from Cape Cod.  Yes, that bat is by Edward Gorey, since I am close to the Edward Gorey House….

This is a week where a lot happened, but there is little to write about.  Most of it was the same old routine.  Work.  Playing with the dogs.  That type of stuff.

I have fallen out of my exercise routine – Every time I am sick, the first day I feel good I go out for a run.  The next day my illness comes back two fold and stretches out another week.  I decided to not run this time.  You know what?  The illness came back anyway, though not as bad.  Monday night I began to feel bad again and I felt horrid on Tuesday.  I had driven into the office and didn’t feel like leaving early, so I stuck it out.  I felt a little better on Wednesday and better again on Thursday.  But I will wait a few days to start exercising again… Continue reading

If We Were Having Coffee on the 3rd of November

Hello and Welcome!   Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of a very strong Sumatra Roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage.  We’ll have to dry you off.  It has been raining off and on all day, at time pouring like there was no tomorrow.  The streets were ponding when I was last out visibility would occasionally be limited by the very heavy, torrential downpour.  At least it’s not cold!  We’ve had so many days of 40F (4C) with strong winds and constant rain.  Brrr.  My least favorite weather!  Today it is low sixties (about 17C).  And where is it raining today, besides the entire east coast?  Some of you may recognize that those Beatles mugs are down on Cape Cod.

I may make this short, at least for me.

I was sick this week.  I missed work on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Yeah, I missed more work this week than the previous four years combined.  Literally – I have been out sick one day since 2014.  When I was at work, things went as normal… Continue reading

Coffee in NH with Moog

Hello and Welcome.  Come on in out of the cold rain and I’ll get you a steaming mug of very strong Sumatra Roast, a cuppa tea or other hot beverage.  You’ll need it!  October started very warm, but his is perhaps the coldest October I can remember.  And wettest – no October Blue skies, my favorite.  The leaves went from off-green to on the ground almost over night, so the least pretty color I’ve ever seen.  Can you tell this has not been a good October for me?  Most expensive one in my life as well, but that is a different story.  OK, enough complaining….  Where are we?  Some of you may recognize that photo at the top as coming from New Hampshire.

I’m sorry, but this coffee share will be pretty short.  Or perhaps you will be thankful, since they are often long.

I wrote about a little community, three house dinner party I attended in my Weekly Smile this week.  Besides that, my after work hours have gone by in a bit of a daze.  I accomplished almost zero.  OK, a months worth of laundry since we finally received our new drier on Wednesday.  And there was Lion’s club on Tuesday.  Not enough sleep any night.  Dogs.  Life.  Etc. If We Were Having Coffee on the 20th of October, 2018

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of a very strong Sumatra Roast.  You can also have a cuppa tea or other beverage.  It is actually not that cold out, but it is damp with occasional passing showers.  I want/need to get out!  I think I’ll risk getting wet….  And where am I?  Some may recognize the photo at the top as coming from Cape Cod.  Some may also realize that this is my first post from here in over a month!  I’m usually here every other week….

Anyway, a busy week.  But what did I do?  Hard to remember!

I did some winterizing in the house and broke down and turned on the heat.  I also did a little raking.  I still need to do the front yard, but…  i also need to rake here, on the Cape.  I brought my car to the shop for the yearly inspection and break emplacement… With my hybrids, the breaks always rust out before they wear out. Coffee in NH with Moog

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a nice steaming mug of a very strong Sumatra Roast.  You can have a cuppa tea, some cocoa or other beverage, but I would recommend something warm.  It’s a bit chilly out there!  We hit 80 F (17 C) earlier in the week, and this morning it is 40 F (4 C).  I haven’t turned on the heat yet.  I’m avoiding it!  I won’t tell you how much I pay for heat, but it is several times more than all of my other utilities, including cell phones, TV, Internet, etc., combined.  I keep the heat off as long as I can stand it….  And where am I freezing my puppies?  Some of you may recognize that photo at the top as being in New Hampshire.

Some of you may be asking where I was last weekend.  Of course, I’m sure most of you scratched your head and said, “What?” when you read that last sentence. Doesn’t matter, I will tell you anyway ;)  I was in Ohio for a wedding.  It was nice.  A My parents and sisters live in Vermilion and my brother and his family visited.  I did take some photos, which I still have to go through.  I did look at some of the reception photos and posted a few the other day.  Here is a sample. If We Were Having Coffee on the 30th of September, 2018

Coffee in NH with Moog

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of a very strong Sumatra Roast, a cuppa tea or other warm beverage.  It looks like a gorgeous fall day, but it is still a little chilly.  Not that it will be hot later, perhaps 68 F (20 C).  It is actually beginning to feel like autumn!  And were are we this week?  Some of you may recognize that photo at the top as coming from new Hampshire.

As I said, it seems fall has finally arrived.  The week started cold and wet.  But then it became warm and wet, hitting 80 F (27 C) on Thursday!  The leaves haven’t really changed much yet, but some are falling.  I want more color!

It was an odd week and I really don’t remember a lot.  I did some editing on my book of short stories and started working on the cover.  I did a little work around the house.  of course there was work work, which was busy, but not insane.  I had to go into the office on Wednesday because our Internet was out.  It was the entire town, so I couldn’t just go to the library.

I decided to bring The Weekly Smile back to my blog.  It went for almost 80 weeks, but I was pretty burned out by the end.  I was doing up to three Smile posts a week and only had two or three people join me.  It became a chore.  But it has been idle for about a year, so I think it is time to come back.  I will do just the main post (Mondays now) and a recap post.  Anyway, you can read more about it here.

Well, that’s about it.  I have a lot to do today.  I hope to be able to read all of the coffee posts, but can’t make promises, particularly to those who post Monday – by then my mind is off of a the weekend and it is hard to thing about these shares, but I will try.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by.  I hope you had a great.  See you soon!

The original Coffee Share kind of died out, but it has been revived!  Eclectic Alli is hosting a coffee share.  This week’s share is here. and the link up is here. Come on and join in!  Hopefully we can bring it back to its former glory!
