Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large mug of very strong French Roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It’s a little odd out right now. It is warmish and windy. It is also cloudy and humid. It looks like rain, but I’m not sure if it will hit us. And where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as coming from my cottage on Cape Cod.
Last week was very busy, but, again, I don’t have a lot to show for it. One big thing, I am on vacation this coming week, so I spent a lot of time preparing. There are also projects at work and other such things.
I also did quite a bit of writing. I had sent my manuscript of The Fireborn to two people to edit. One found a lot of typos and that type of thing, while the other pointed out more stylist things. I’ve been going through their notes and am making corrections where needed. I don’t always agree, but it is helping. Actually, there isn’t as many problems as I expected. On the other hand, I’ve done six drafts and over a dozen read throughs/revisions. I’ve corrected a huge amount of mistakes in that time! When I’m done with this, I’ll do one more quick read through to catch any other typos/misspellings/misused words/etc. I started earlier this week and I’m a little over three quarters of the way done. One long session or two shorter ones and I’ll be done (except the final read through).
Of course, after that part is done, the hard work has to happen. In some ways this will be harder to format that Seasons of Imagination. On the other hand, I don’t have to worry about a table of contents, which turned out to be a major pain. Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large mug of a very strong French Roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It’s a nice day and will be relatively warm. Pretty much typical mid to late June weather. The nights are cool (though they’ll be above average this week) and the days pleasantly warm. And where are we? Some may recognize the photo at the top to mean that we are in New Hampshire.
It was one of those weeks that I hardly remember what happened. It seems like there was something constantly going on, so I didn’t get much done, and yet the only thing I remember is Tuesday’s Lions’ Club meeting/June cookout. The first half of the week was sweltering, but the second half nice. I have a huge amount of writing piling up and feel behind. There is a lot of work around the house screaming to be done (I did do some over the week) and a couple of dogs screaming to be walked and played with. I think they still have extra energy stored from the days that were too hot to have them out much. Continue reading →
Hello and welcome! Come on in. Well, for a minute while we get drinks. It is great outside for a change and we don’t want to waste more than a minute inside! As usual I have a very strong French Sumatra Roast, a variety of teas, hot cocoa, water, etc. We can sit out back and put Fiyero and the long leash so I can keep a hand and eye on him. Ah, great, isn’t it? Oh, you want to know where we are? By the photo at the top, yes, all of those great Beatles’ mugs, some may know that we are on Cape Cod.
Some of you may have seen my pre-recorded “I’m not here right now” Coffee share last week. If not, you may have seen my post Home. No? How about my week 75 (75!!) Weekly Smile? I spent a bit of time last week in Ohio visiting family. I fly in last Wednesday and back on Monday. It was a nice visit, and besides the above mentioned posts, I will most likely do a photo post later.
I’ve had some time off of work, but also worked a lot. We are getting quite a bit done, which is always satisfying, but there are few end products to hold up and say, “Look at this!”
I am still having Internet problems down here on Cape Cod. I am using my phone’s data. Not ideal. I call Comcast, they say someone will be out. Nobody comes or calls. It has been out a month. A MONTH! And nothing has been done. Can you say frustrating? I knew you could. Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of a very strong French Roast, a cuppa tea or something other beverage. It looks like it’s going to be a nice day, which is great since it has been so cold and wet (yes, again) the last few days. And where am I? Some of you may recognize the phot at the top of the page as being down on Cape Cod.
Despite the wet and cold, it looks like summer is here. I took a ride out to my favorite beach this morning. I hit a few traffic jams at 7:30 AM on a Saturday! And the parking lot at the beach was already full. OK, not full, but when there are almost a dozen cars as opposed to me being the only car, well, it seems full. There were people everywhere. For people who don’t live in this country, this is Memorial Day weekend, the big American kickoff to summer. Every person who has a seasonal house/cottage/cabin/camp on Cape Cod seems to be down. I have usually gone other placers on Memorial Day, so this is new to me. I guess I knew it was busy, I just never experienced it. Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice mug of super strong French Roast, a cuppa tea or some other beverage. After weeks of odd weather, it is perfect today! It had been cold and wet for a few weeks, and then this week it turned hot, like 95 F/35 C. Today and for the next few days, it will be nice and comfortable with cold nights – great for sleeping! Not that I slept well last night, but that’s another story for another time. Anyway, where am I? By the photo at the top you may guess that I am in New Hampshire this weekend.
So, work was ultra-busy. Enough said ;) OK, just a few words. In ways, being busy is better than bored. And at least I have work, and a very good job at that. And it is challenging and I have to continue to grow and stretch myself. What happens to people as the age if work no longer challenges or stretches them, make them grow? Does their mind atrophy? Their work muscles shrivel? Hmmm. I don’t want to find out… Continue reading →
Hello and welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of very strong French Roast, a cuppa tea, some cocoa or other beverage. It is a little cool, and perhaps a bit damp, so I’m sure you’ll enjoy the warm beverage. Oh yes, where are we? Some of you can tell by the picture at the top that we are on Cape Cod this weekend.
This has been a busy week. Work has been very, very busy. I still haven’t caught up from the week of training! And new things are constantly cropping up. On Thursday i met people on the executive team, which was nice. I mean, it was a room full of people, not just me, but there was a chance for everyone to talk.
Away from work it has also been very busy. To tell you the truth, I have no idea why it was so busy. I had Lion’s Club on Tuesday, but I’m not sure what else happened that would make me feel like nothing was done. Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Come on in out of the pouring rain and dry off. Here, I’ll get you a large mug of very strong French Roast, a cuppa tea or some hot cocoa. If you are visiting after lunch I might be able to find a nip of something to warm you up ;) Yesterday was wet, cold and miserable. Today is starting as a repeat, but it will be much warmer (over 20 degrees F warmer). I’m sure you are asking where it is so wet and nasty. Well, pretty much the eastern half of the US, from what I’ve heard, but, as some of you may be able to tell by that Moog Voyager and coffee cup at the top, I’m in New Hampshire today.
I wasn’t in New Hampshire for most of the week. If you read last week’s coffee post, you know I was on Cape Cod over the weekend. I came home to NH on Sunday, but flew out on Monday. I had some training to do for work down in Washington, DC. The training was all day Tuesday and Wednesday and I flew home on Thursday. It was a nice class and I did get a lot out of it. I wish I could do more of those types of classes. In fact, I’d like to do more classes of any type… Continue reading →
Hello and welcome! Come on in and I’ll get a nice mug of French Sumatra Roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is a nice, if grey, day out there and we need some refreshment before we go explore! Many of you who have visited me for coffee in the past may see that picture at the top and know that we are on Cape Cod this weekend.
This was a nice week. Work was ultra-busy, but I took a couple of days off. Yes, this is spring break for me! I’ve kayaked, run, walked on the beach (a couple of them), walked in the woods, eaten sea food, etc., etc. I’ve read a bit and did some blogging down here, but I haven’t done as much writing or editing as I should. Too much going on! Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Come on in! I know, it’s still a little raw out there. It isn’t going to be a hot day by any stretch, but hopefully the sun will shine and burn some of the moisture off. At least it isn’t snow! Oh, in case you couldn’t tell by the photo, we are in New Hampshire this week.
It’s been a busy week and it seems like I never had a chance to sit down. Work was very busy and it seemed like there was something every evening at home, but I really don’t remember what.
It is Spring, and everyone is happy about that! We had some warm weather, but after a week, I had to turn the heat on again. Nobody is happy about that, except that we aren’t freezing our behinds off. Puppies have wanted to be outside 100% of the time, so I’ve taken them a little more than usual, but I do have to have some inside time! Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Come in out of the… oops, sorry, it’s colder inside than outside. I turned off the heat the other day when it was so warm (in the 80s F and upper 20s C). I can’t turn it on yet, even though it has been cold at night, so the house is frigid… It has been beautiful, though, and today will be warm so I can open windows. Tomorrow may hit 80F (27 C) and so the house should get nice and warm, though I might have to turn the heat on again :( Oh, you are asking where I am? If you’ve been here before, you may recognize that photo of the beautiful synthesizer as having been taken up in new Hampshire.
Work was busy, but not insane. We may get to insane levels later, but for now it is workable.
I got some stuff done around the house. Mostly it’s been getting the house ready for spring. I removed the plastic from a few windows so I could open them (see here for what I am talking about). I put away the humidifiers and some of the space heaters. Switched winter wardrobe for summer (I have a large cedar chest that keeps 6-months of off season clothes). Other such stuff.
