If We Were Having Coffee on the 28th of March, 2020

coffee-in-the-snow

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in… Ooops, stop, hold it.  Let’s sit out here at the picnic table on the patio.  I know, there is a lot of snow, but this area stays a freezer at least 10 degrees colder than anywhere else.  Great for the summer, but..  It is warming up and is a beautiful day, so we can enjoy it out here.  I’ll get you a large mug of super strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, hot cocoa or other beverage to keep you warm  Funny, I have seen a lot of people sitting on their porches recently even when it is below freezing.  They live by socializing, but are trying to be safe.  Oh, were are we?  Some of you may recognize that photo at the top as being in New Hampshire.

OK, first, yes, we did have 8 inches of Snow Monday into Tuesday, but that is an old photo at the top of the post.  Most of the snow was gone by the end of the day.  Here is a photo from Tuesday late-morning: Continue reading

Coffee in NH with Moog

Hello and Welcome!  Come on (virtually!) in and I’ll get you nice large mug of ultra-strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, some hot cocoa or other beverage.  It is a little cool, but not cold out.  It will be a sunny day today, but not even close to as warm as yesterday!  Where are we?  Some may recognize the photo as coming from New Hampshire.

On the subject of weather, it has been strange.  We haven’t had quite the yo-yo that we had earlier this month, but still up and down, and now much wetter.  We had snow twice this week!  Here is Thursday: Continue reading

If We Were having Coffee on Leap Year Day, 2020

coffee-in-the-snow

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you large mug of ultra-strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some hot cocoa.  It is bright and sunny out there, but don’t let that deceive you.  It’s cold.  We have been having yo-yo temperatures lately.  The good news is that it will be warmer than forecast and actually get above freezing later in the day…  Where are we?  Some may recognize that photo at the top as being taken in New Hampshire.  yes, after three weekends on Cape Cod, I am back in NH!

It was a pretty busy week.  I had to get a new laptop at work.  Our Lions Club held a “candidates night” for candidates to local office in our town hall – I helped organize and sent the invitations.  I had massage.  I played with puppies, walked puppies, played musical instruments, walked by myself, ran, exercised, read, wrote and did a little editing (after 4 months away).  I also made another batch of chili from scratch, including soaking the beans.  It will be ready at lunch!

Oh, I also got a tick :(  This is the second tick I got this winter.  They love me.  I have tried to be careful, but…

I had a bit of bad news yesterday, but since I didn’t share the good side, I won’t the bad… I had hinted about the last few weeks, but didn’t want to “count my chickens before they hatched” and was right not to – it all fell apart on the very last day.  Oh well, life goes on.  And I did some very needed work.

Oh, yes, and work.  Besides the new laptop, it was busy.  A few things did finally come through there (yeah!) and I made a few steps in the right direction on some other projects. And, of course, I got calls from people about things that aren’t mine because I’ve become known as a bit of a “Subject Matter Expert” even on subjects that I’m, well, not the expert, or at least isn’t really part of my job… lol

Anyway, cold or not, I will spend a lot of time outside today!  I also have a ton of chores to do, since this is my first weekend in NH in a month.

So I got to run (maybe not literally today, except when playing with the dogs).  Thanks for stopping by!  If you have a coffee share, I will try to stop by, but make no promises – I’ve missed quite a few the last several weeks…

The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli.  The link to join is here.

If We Were Havign Coffee on the Twenty Second Day of the Second Month of the Twentieth Year of the Twenty First Century (2/22/2020, or 22/2/2020 for non-Americans)

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a mug of super strong Dark Roast, a cuppa tea or a hot cocoa.  It is still a little cool out, but it will get pretty warm later today.  OK, warm is a relative term – it will be around 45 F/ 7 C.  But the sun is shining and it is absolutely gorgeous outside!  And where are we?  Some may recognize that Edward Gorey mug as being only a few miles from the Edward Gorey House on Cape Cod.

Two quick things.  First, although I was planning on using a photo of the mug anyway, I decided that I will connect it to Chelsea Owens’ Terrible Poetry Contest winner for this week.  This week as full of morbid, little Willie poems and someone compared them to our fried Edward.

Next, if you are observant you may recognize that this is the third week in a row I have been on Cape Cod.  I had a reason to be here, but things happened, and… Anyway, since I had it penciled in on my calendar (really – I am a computer nerd but use a paper calendar and really do pencil things in…) I decided to come.  It’s been nice :)  In ways I enjoy being here in the winter more than the summer when I have to share the road with a million people… Continue reading

If We Were Having Coffee on the 15th of February, 2020

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in out of the bitter cold!  It is sunny and gorgeous, but frigid.  Not as frigid as back up in NH, not even close!  But it is cold.  I’ll get you a steaming mug of super strong dark roast, a piping hot cuppa tea, or comfortably warm mug of comfort-drink, aka hot cocoa.  And where are we?  I already gave it away, and there is the photo at the top of the page, but if you missed it, we are on Cape Cod.

It was a super busy work week.  I can’t point to much and say , “This! This is what I did!” but it was busy.  I feel i didn’t get a whole lot done, besides my every-other week massage appointment on Wednesday without which I would be as stiff as concrete.

Last week when I was here I took this photo of the full moon.  I kind of like it:

And I had a little wine for Valentine’s Day last night.

I have to go rent a big truck soon – I have to leave the house in 5 minutes, so I need to drop off.

Thanks for stopping by!  If you have a coffee share, I’ll try tomake it by your place later.  Enjoy your weekend!

The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli.  The link to join is here.

If We Were Having Coffee on the First of February, Twenty-Twenty

coffee-in-the-snow

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large mug of super strong Dark Roast, a cuppa tea, how cocoa or other beverage.  It is  cool and grey out there.  The air is a little damp.  I’ll still spend a lot of time outside ;)  And where are we?  Some of you may recognize that photo at the top as coming from New Hampshire.

It was an odd week.  It started on Sunday with me discovering a tick (!) embedded in me on Sunday.  Yes, it is January in New Hampshire. The week ended (sort of) on getting an echo-cardiogram on Friday.  My father (whose birthday was also on Friday) had a heart murmur his entire life and had a valve replaced.  My doctor has noticed I have a murmur.  oh, oh.  So we’ll see.  Good news medically is that I got the results of my latest blood test back and it was all very good, perhaps as good as I’ve seen since my mid-20s.  My blood pressure has also been better than its been since my 20s.  Hopefully this murmur thing is nothing serious…. If We Were Having Coffee on the 25th of January, 2020

coffee-in-the-snowHello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large mug of a very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or a mug of hot cocoa.  It is cold outside, but not frigid!  A weird day, a bit grey and the air is damp.  It will rain later.  It was frigid earlier this week, but this weekend is more early March than late January (late March in NH is still deep winter!)  And where are we.  Drat, I told you already, but if you missed it and didn’t recognize the photo at the top, you know I am in New Hampshire this weekend.

It was a busy week, but one that I don’t really remember!  There was work, and work was busy, but routine.  Also, I had Monday off to celebrate Martin Luther King.  Oh, and I did go into the office on Tuesday, which I don’t do often, preferring to telework when I can.

Remember last week when I said I was inspired and wrote and posted five stories?  Well, I wasn’t inspired this week – I did my smile posts and one other (a story).  That’s it.  Continue reading

If We Were Having Coffee on the 18th of January, 2020

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of super-strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage.  It is a bit chilly out, but feels balmy after the screeching winds and bitter cold of yesterday.  Quite a change from last week’s weather report, no? ;)  And were are we?  Some of you may know that Edward Gorey mug as being just a few miles from the Edward Gorey House on Cape Cod.

Wow, quite the week.  I spent pretty much all of last weekend outside enjoying the weather.  I even went running in shorts and t-shirt! I did the typical long walks, exercizing, other runs and a massage on Wednesday (hi Dottie ;) ).  Wednesday evening I drove down here to The Cape.

I did a few walks in the strong wind on Thursday and hit the beach for the sunset. The entire sky was all sorts of cool (actually warm ;) ) colors that would be impossible to capture – you had to be there in the full 360 degree glory of it all.  Here it is starting to dip down. Continue reading

If We Were Having Coffee on the 11th of January, 2020

books-n-coffee

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you nice larg mug of a very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage.  It is actually pretty warm out there for an early January morning in New Hampshire.  And the next two days will be quite warm.  I’m assuming we’ll lose most of the snow.  There is a major snow storm forecast for next Saturday and Sunday, but we’ll see how it goes.  Oh yeah, this is usually the place where I ask about where we are, isn’t it?  And I already told you, didn’t I?  Well, I hope you enjoy the photo from NH at the top of the page anyway ;)

This was a very busy work week.  I did get a lot accomplished, but still…  Next week will most likely be as busy.  No emergencies, which is good.  I do not like those emergency meetings ;) Most of my week was about work. Continue reading

If We Were Having Coffee on the 4th of January, 2020

coffee-in-the-snow

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in where it is warm and dry!  It is above freezing (barely) and raining out there.  Yuck.  But it is nice inside and I can get you a large mug of ultra-strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, some hot cocoa or other beverage.  And where are we?  Some may recognize the photo as being from New Hampshire.

So, it is 2020.  Funny, I’m not the only one that thinks 2020 sounds like “the future”.  Many other bloggers have stated it and I’ve seen several articles with headlines like “Welcome to the Future!  But Where are the Flying Cars?”  And walking out into the rain it is obvious that we still have weather….

I started the week on Cape Cod and drove up to NH on the first.  There was a nasty snow/ice storm on Monday and into Tuesday, so my driveway was awful.  After the three hour drive, I got out of my (stuck) car and shoveled ice for and hour and a half.  Not as long as when I shoveled 26 inches of snow a few weeks ago, but I was using a different shovel and was chopping ice, so I got a super nasty blister.  The joys of winter.

I returned to work on Thursday.  Oh well, at least I have work…  ;)

It has been a pretty slow week without a lot of excitement.

Thanks for stopping by!  If you have a coffee share I’ll try to stop by your place and say “Hi!”.  If you want to join, or see what the others are doing, you can go to the linkup here.
