Hello and Welcome! Pull up a chair here and enjoy the view of the hillside. It is all green and beautiful. Yes, not all green – there are plenty of flowers! It is a gorgeous morning after a very wet week. So let’s sit here, relax, and just enjoy the moment. Ah…. Oh, where are we? Some of you may be able to guess by the photo at the top that we are in New Hampshire this morning.
First, You might not have missed me, but I did not post a coffee share last week. I took a week off of work and pretty much dropped out of blog-land over the week. I spent the week on Cape Cod (surprise, surprise ;) ). It was great! I took long walks on the beach, kayaked, swam, walked in the woods, relaxed, had fires in the back yard (OK, in the firepit in the back yard) did work around the house, hired someone to paint the house and someone else came by to look at the barn roof, bought a refrigerator, walked and played with dogs and, well, it was summer vacation!
Hello and Welcome! Let’s go out and sit down in the shade in the back yard. There is a nice breeze. I think it is fragrant, but you may get a bit too much of the saltwater marsh smell there ;) It is warm and sunny, a beautiful start to summer! And where are we? Some of you may recognize the scene in the photo at the top as being on Cape Cod.
I drove down here Thursday night. I had to work yesterday, but went kayaking after I was done. I went running by the beach this morning. It was already warm and humid. I have a million things I want to do today, and am not sure where I will start. OK, I will start with this post ;) Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Let’s sit down here at the table on the patio and I’ll get you a nice super strong mug of dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is still a little cool, though comfortable, but I can get you something cool instead of warm, if you’d like. We can sit here and look off into the woods and pretend we are a million miles from anyone instead of in the middle of a village. And were is this village? Some may recognize that van Gogh mug as being in New Hampshire.
This was a busy week. I had a busier than usual work week. Partially because of this, I didn’t blog as much as usual. I also had a dentist appointment on Thursday – I had a filling :( There was the typical playing with dogs in the woods behind the house and walking. For some reason, they preferred playing this week and we didn’t walk as much as usual. I ran and did my strength exercises. I read. Typical stuff. Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Come on over and sit down! Actually, it is pretty wet out, but there is a sheltered area – it’s like a wall-less room off of the side of the back barn just to the right of the photo at the top. I think the rain has stopped and it will be a nice day. Where are we? Some may recognize that photo as being from Cape Cod.
I’m not sure what to talk about this week. The same=old, same-old, of course – work, walking the dogs, exercise, etc. Weather – after being so hot, the temperatures crashed, but they have come back up to normal now. Lack of hair cuts – I tell people I am going after the Franz Liszt look… (google it ;) ) I haven’t been blogging much the last few days.
Then there is the wider world. Yeah. Perhaps I will do a longer post on that later. It is very complex, but people simplify it so much. Sigh. OK, real quick: Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Let’s go over here and sit down outside. It is a gorgeous morning. It is still in the low 70s (about 21 C) and the humidity is beginning to break, so it is comfortable. More than comfortable, it is perfect! We have had hot and humid all week. Wednesday was well over 90 (around 33 C). Remember, we had snow two weeks ago… I am glad it is cooling down and the humidity is breaking – I guess my roots are from places like the Isle of Skye, not Cairo ;) Were are we that is warmer than northern Scotland, more humid than Egypt, though, luckily, cooler than Yemen? Some may recognize that photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
As I said, it went from a cold, wet spring, still more like early April than mid May to July-like weather overnight. It is summer out. This week will be cool, but it is still early summer New England weather. Warm, but with cool nights (I could stand 90 F/30 C weather if it was down to 55F/13C at night so I could sleep! Anyway, with early summer, so comes some of the summer beauty of NH. I talk about running with dogs on the wood hillside in my backyard. I’ve posted quite a few photos of that hill over the years, but here is one from Wednesday morning. Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Lets go sit down here and look out over the back yard. You can see the small cove/salt water marsh through the trees and an occasional osprey will fly over, though the sound of birds is ever present. It is warmish, but damp. Every so often there are some sprinkles, but overall it is nice. Were are we? Some of you may recognize that photo at the top from Cape Cod.
It was a busy week, as usual. There was work, of course. Running and exercise and such. For the most part the weather was great. Chilly in the morning, but warm in the afternoon – perfect!
I have had a hard time with social media his last week and most likely it will continue for while – I just have zero desire to sit at a computer!
I drove down here Thursday evening. I took two hours off of work yesterday (Friday) to get out in the warm sunshine. I spent most of that time mowing (the yard here was awful!!), but did a short, windy kayak paddle. Nice :) Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Sit down over here and look up into the woods. Isn’t it pretty? It is cloudy, but warm. The week started far below average temps, even snow in places last weekend! But it warmed up and we are back to normal. We even hit 80 (27 C) the other day – it was super humid, so it felt like summer. Oh, were are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as begin from New Hampshire, though it is now green!
Yeah, it is great that the weather is so much nicer. We had nasty storms come through Friday – there was even a tornado watch! But now it is just mid-to-late-May. Nice, comfortable.
No matter what people say, spring is always late here, late and short. Yes, we had a colder and wetter than usual spring so far, but it just feels as bad as it does because of the warmer and drier than usual winter. Oh well, glad we are closer to normal and warm! Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Here, I’ll put a towel down on this seat so your behind doesn’t get wet. There are still a few flakes in the air, but I think the precipitation has stopped. Yes, you are in the right coffee share, it is May 9. No, there was no accumulation, it was rain all night and flurries all morning, but not a flake stuck. There, comfortable? I will get you a nice large mug of super-strong dark roast or a piping hot cuppa tea or some hot cocoa. It is pretty, even if wet and cold, with the new leaves that special early May Green. Oh, where are we? Some may recognize that photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
So I came back from Cape Cod on Sunday – it was a gorgeous day and I spent all day outside! But then, well, as the week went on, it got cooler… I still spent time outside, and ran on Tuesday and Thursday. Of course the dogs need a huge amount of outside time as well… Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome! Come in! No, on second thought, let’s go sit out back. It has been wet and cold, but today is sunny and beautiful. A little cool, but nice from what we’ve had this last week or two. And where are we ? Although it is a summer photo, some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from my backyard on Cape Cod.
The big news is weather. It’s been awful. After a warmer and drier winter than usual, we have had a cooler and wetter spring than usual. Which is why today, a Saturday even, is so welcome. (Hint, I will spend as much of the day outside as possible).
Work week wasn’t as busy as last week, Btu part of it was me – I was just so burnt out I didn’t have the energy to do as much as I should. There are still a lot of hard deadlines, even things like the Department of Homeland Security has given us a date to make fixes or have dozens of servers shut down. But not all is bad ;) Continue reading →
Hello and Welcome. Hold on, I’m going to grab a few dry cushions to sit on as the chairs are wet. Ignore that white stuff coming out of the sky as I get you a nice large mug of ultra-strong dark roast,a cuppa tea, a hot cocoa or other beverage. Yeah, that white stuff is only sticking to the roof of cars and other surfaces like that, but it shouldn’t be too bad out here as we sip our coffee and chat. Oh, where are we? You may be able to tell from the (newish) photo that we are in New Hampshire this morning, sitting at this very table! Yeah, I know, it is now covered in white, but…
This was the second day this week that there was snow in the morning. I think it was Tuesday (Monday?) that there was actually a covering, even on the roads, but it had all melted by noon. We had one or two warm days last week, but a little cooler than normal. It looks much the same this week. Odd – we had a much more mild winter than normal (“warmer” and far less snow) but the spring is cooler and wetter than usual. The seasons are just wonky… Continue reading →
