Coffee Share new Hampshire in the Summer

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a nice strong mug of my dark roast blend, a cuppa tea of other beverages.  We will go back outside and enjoy the green.  It is a little grey today and there may be storms later, but for now it is nice being out instead of in.  Where are we?  Some of you may recognize that cup on the stone wall as being in my backyard in New Hampshire.  Yes, two weeks in a row ;)

The last coffee share I told you that this was going to be a very busy week.  Yep.  I had two days that were all day meetings.  There was a lot else going on at work.  Just a busy week any way you look at it.

Beyond work, I didn’t do much out of the ordinary.  I ran and exercised.  I took the dogs for walks.  I mowed and did other work around the house.  I really don’t remember a whole lot else that I did… Continue reading

Coffee Share new Hampshire in the Summer

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get a large mug of a very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage.  It is pleasantly cool outside, so lets sit and take in the view of the hill behind my house.  Sitting here it is hard to believe that we are in the middle of a village and not the middle of a forest.  It will get warm today, but not hot.  A perfect late summer day.  Where are we?  Although this is a newer photo, some may know that it is in New Hampshire. If We Were Having Coffee on the 3rd of August, 2019

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a mug of very strong French Roast, a cuppa tea or something else, perhaps something cold.  It is warm, but more than that a bit humid, so the house is stuffy.  We can go out back were there is a pleasant breeze.  See that picture at the top?  That’s were we will be sitting.  Do you recognized it?  If so, you know that we are on Cape Cod.

Yes, I left The Cape Sunday morning and drove back on Wednesday evening.  I’m spending a lot of time here!  Why?  Besides the obvious that the Cape is great ;)  Last week I came down to clean up after the tornado.  This week we are having a visitor come in from Denver.  There is also going to be work done this week.  I changed my telework agreement so I only go to the office if I have to.  There is a huge amount of work needed on this place.  We just listed the old place for sale, so there has been a lot of prep work and a lot more to do.  If it wasn’t for the cats, I would most likely stay down here full time.  As it is, I do have one cat, Albert, with me.  (Here is one of many posts about Albert). If We Were Having Coffee on the 27th of July, 2019

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or perhaps something cool.  It is a beautiful morning so we’ll go out back and enjoy our coffee under the trees.  It is a little humid, which I discovered when i did my 5 mile run earlier this morning, but it feels very comfortable.  Perhaps later, when it is hot, I’ll have to hit the ocean, but this is nice for now.  Where are we?  The photo at the top is new so you may not know that it is from Cape Cod.

Odd week.  I wasn’t supposed to be here today, but some of you may have heard that a tornado hit Cape Cod.  I came down to clean up a bit.  Still have more, plus a little damage.  Here is a limb that fell off of one of my trees. Continue reading

Coffee in NH with Moog

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a mug of a very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or… hmmm, maybe I’ll get you something a bit cooler.  We’ll sit on the back patio and look off into the woods.  It is not even 8 AM and yet it is warm and humid, 83F/28 C.  Later today it will reach close to 100 F/38C with very high humidity, so feel like 120F or more.  There is no wind or breeze as there was yesterday, the first day of our heat wave.  And where are we hot and miserable?  Some of you may know that photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.

I started the week on Cape Cod.  I can telecommute, so I worked from down there.  I was able to kayak and go to the beach and stuff in the afternoon.  I drove back Wednesday evening.  With the new place I will be spending more time there as I work on it and such.

Tuesday evening the dogs were barking.  I walked out to go to the cottage (which is finally listed!) and walked right into a large flock of turkey. Continue reading

If We Were Having Coffee on the 13th of July, 2019

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a nice mug of very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea, or some other beverage, warm or cold.  We’ll go out back and sit at the new teak table and enjoy the sun and breeze.  It is a gorgeous day!  I’ve already kayaked for a couple of hours and need to relax.  Were are we?  If the reference to kayaking didn’t clue you in and you missed the photo at the top, we are on Cape Cod.

So, were where we?  A few weeks ago I had a semi-vacation here on the Cape.  Entertaining a hyperactive 10 year old is not really a vacation, but…  And then I went to Ohio to visit family.  I also visited with an old friend.  There was a band concert by the Cleveland Orchestra Band for the 4th at Blossom, along with fireworks.  There was watching eagles and then canoeing at Old Woman’s Creek.  There were many walks in Mill Hollow.  And on and on.  Over all a good visit.

And then it was back to reality.  I spent a lot of time catching up at work (I did work several days in the middle of my “vacation”.)  I had massage on Wednesday. much needed after a month!  I came down to the Cape on Thursday evening and worked here yesterday.  I caught up with two other old friends, at least briefly.

Anyway, I have a lot on my agenda for the day.  I have to get up and start moving again.  I will try to stop by all of the other coffee shares, but no promises.

I hope you are having a great weekend and have a good week ahead!

If We Were Having Coffee on the 29th of June, 2019

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get a nice large mug of a very strong French Roast, a cuppa tea or some other beverage.  Actually, it is afternoon and a little warm (well, more humid than warm), so perhaps a cold beverage would be better.  Where are we?  You may know that the photo is from Cape Cod.

I spent the week down on Cape Cod.  I did work on Monday and a half a day on Tuesday, but had the rest of the day off.  There was/is a houseful of people, which is good in ways (it’s nice to have company) but is bad in other ways ( this is the house we are moving into and it is not ready for company!).

I’ve done a lot of work around the house plus getting the other house ready to sell. Busy that way.  I have been kayaking a few times in the new location, have walked on the beach, tons of walks and playing with the dogs, entertaining, etc.  I watched a 10 year old fish while I tried to take photos of osprey.

Anyway, I have a million and one things to do today.  I was just stopping by to say hi, which is double important since I will most likely miss next week.

I hope you are having a great weekend and have a good week ahead!

If We Were Having Coffee on the 22nd of June, 2019

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a nice strong French Roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage.  It is a beautiful day and since it has been non-stop pouring rain for the last two days, let’s go outside and have our coffee in the backyard.  You can make out the water pretty close in – yeah, looking across the bay, my back yard is the only place that has a forest!  Maybe some day I’ll create a view.  Or we can walk down to one of the landings.  If you haven’t guessed, we are on Cape Cod today.

It was a pretty busy week.  A doctor’s appointment.  Work.  Exercise, driving down here.  etc.  But a nice week.  Not a lot to report.

We are still having much more rain than lately.  It is wet out there…  Just an odd year.  But, as I said, today is beautiful!

Last week I talked about a new synthesizer.  I spent a bit of last weekend recording.  I posted this elsewhere, but I like it, so…  (You can read a description here): Continue reading

books-n-coffee

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a coffee, tea or other beverage.  Yeah, it’s after noon, so I’ll have to make another batch.  Also it is a strange, humid day – it is raining and feels warm.  Where are we?  That photo at the top, now out of date with the release of a new book, was taken in New Hampshire.

It was a very busy week with a lot going on.  Like most such weeks, there really isn’t much to say.

OK, I did get a new synthesizer and have been playing around with it.  I have devoted this weekend to making a bit of a demo song.  I will most likely post a review coming up. For a small taste, I did a super quick, down and dirty experiment with it within an hour of it arriving: Continue reading

If We Were Having Coffee on the 8th of June, 2019

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a nice strong Dark Roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage.  We need to have it outside, because it is so gorgeous out!  But I don’t have anyplace to sit yet.  Maybe we can put it in travel mugs and walk to one of the two nearby landings and sit on a bench and watch the water.  And where are we?  Some of you may recognize the new-ish photo as being at the new-ish place on Cape Cod.

So the big news this week is that I consider myself moved from the cottage to the house.  Now one thing to be aware of – some day will will live here full time, but for now my permanent residence is still in New Hampshire.  If you read this blog, or at least the coffee share, you know that I do spend a lot of time on Cape Cod, even during the winter, and with a real house here, I may spend more time, just not full time for a while yet.  Five years?  Maybe…

Back to the story – I worked out of the cottage on Thursday.  After work I turned off the modem, packed it up and turned it on here.  It took 10 or 15 minutes, but it came up!  My Internet connection is now at the new place. Continue reading
