Cape Cod Late June 2017

Osprey

I was on Cape Cod for a week in late June of this year.  As usual, I took a ton of photos.  I finally got a chance to dig through them.  There were just too many ;)  The hard part was weeding them out and picking my favorites.  Not always the best.  For instance,  I like this Osprey with a stick:

Not as good as the photo at the top of the page, but I like the stick.  I actually took a few photos of osprey with sticks, and some with fish, but most didn’t come out very well. Continue reading

A Few Birds I Saw in Ohio

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Geese

I don’t have time to write anything.  These photos were quickly cropped but I didn’t have time to do anything else to them.  Obviously I didn’t take time to decide which were my favorites ;)  Well, I started with over 700, so I did cut the numbers down a bit.  Click on the pictures to bring up more detail – you’ll be glad you did!

Photos from Ohio (Mostly Birds, Eagles)

Back in May I visited my parents.  Well, it was a little more than that since most of my immediate family was there.  Unlike normal people, I took few family pictures.  What I did instead was take pictures of wildlife.

When I was a kid there were few, if any, eagles in the area.  Now they are almost common.  Almost.  I’ve seen four or five at once.  Yes, half a dozen eagles at one time.  But that doesn’t mean every time I look up I see one, not by a long shot!  So part of the picture taking experience was finding eagles.  One was easy, since it was in a nest.  Unfortunately I didn’t get any good pictures of the young chicks this year.  Nor did I get any taking off or landing. Cape Cod, August 2014

I spent a week at the “camp” down on the Cape in late August with my parents. Since I took so many pictures I decided to split them into 4 posts.

The first post was ‘Osprey Hour and Midair Battle’ which featured photos taken in one trip out on the kayak.

The second post, ‘Swans’, featured the different swan families we saw in two ponds.

The third post followed our whale watch tour. Continue reading

Things That Fly – Photos from Ohio and Cape Cod

I’m posting quite a few images here. All I can say is I had a hard time weeding them down to this few. OK, I need to back up for a minute.

I went to visit Ohio over Memorial Day weekend. For those of you from other parts of the world, Memorial Day is always the last Monday in May. Although Ohio is 600 miles inland from where I live, my parents live close to one of the Great Lakes, Lake Erie. The weekend after I returned from Ohio I went down to Cape Cod. It seems that in both of these places I spent my time taking pictures of birds. Continue reading
