Self Portrait in Color Pencils – Trent P. McDonald

Hello and Welcome to Trent’s World Blog!  Now what’s this blog all about?  Play the music below and I’ll explain:

I use this as my ring tone.  It’s not the greatest piece I’ve written.  Some of the music I’ve created is technically much better and some is much more original.  I’ve delved deeper into meaning.

So why this particular piece?

This little ditty, the Scherzo to my Piano Sonata in C# minor, perhaps best tells the story of my art.  It’s intricate yet doesn’t take itself too seriously; dark yet not scary;  beyond the every day (I hope) yet not pretentious.  I think it’s fun!

That’s what my blog is about.  On occasion I might try to teach myself a lesson and hope you’ll also learn something.  I try to move beyond the ordinary to inspire creativity but don’t take myself too seriously.

You’ll find short stories, poems, reviews and just ramblings about life.

As an example of what you might find here, this is the most popular short fiction I’ve posted to date (early January 2014):

 First Day Out

I think you can describe this story in much the same way as you can the scherzo to my Piano Sonata in C# minor.  What do you think?

If you want to see more about my goals for my blog this year, please read:

Yes, Another “What I Want from My Blog in 2014” Post

Above all, have fun.

Hi nonsmokingladybug! This weekend I’m going to try to start looking at the people on M-R’s community page, I’ve just been too busy lately. I’m sure I’ll stop by for a visit soon. In the mean time, snoop away!

Hey Trent. I love the Sonata. it’s just the right length, and provides the perfect atmosphere for “First Day Out.” I opened that link in new window and read while I listened.

I’m blogrolling you on my writing blog so I can keep up. I’ve seen you liking my stuff for awhile, and when you left me that comment today, I thought it was time to spend a few minutes really looking at what you’re doing. I don’t have time to much original blogging on writing at the moment, so I do a lot of reblogs over there. I’m always looking for good writing-related posts to share.

I love that you publish your goals. I do that, too, and I’m always interested to know what other bloggers are hoping to get from the blogging experience. I tend to plan the blogs by the quarter rather than the year, but I plan my writing goals by the year.

Thanks Gene. I do try to keep up with your blog. Or I guess i should say “blogs”. I’ve begun to get a little better about the blog etiquette of liking and/or commenting on posts so I’m sure my name has popped up more often.

Of course I’d feel honored if you shared my work. I know I’ve started following several blogs after seeing them on your site.

I need to revisit my goals for the year and see how I’m doing – it’s been almost four months since I wrote it. Doing it by quarter makes a lot of sense.

Thanks again for stopping by and for your comments.

You’re very welcome, and if I do share your work, you can be certain I liked it. Just wanted you to know I’m paying attention to you, and willing to have conversations.

        Rock on!

Ver nice work, Trent! Thank you so much for following The World according to Dina, it’s much appreciated. I like your music. Do you need a special plug in to upload MP3 to WP? I recently wanted to upload an interview and couldn’t do it.
    Warm greetings from the North

Hi Dina. I loved the pictures on your blog – Norway must be so beautiful. I did have to purchase a special media package through Word Press to post mp3s. It was like $10US for a year. It also increases the amount of storage space you’re allowed. Thanks for stopping by and for your comment.

Hi Sonya. I didn’t do anything different for this page than a post. I had an empty line at the top of the page and then added the media as normal. I click on the picture then on the little picture “Edit Your Media” icon then choose “center”.

Can you tell me how you got the picture to show up on your about page? I tried it, and it put mine on the sidebar.
