The Weekly Smile for the 28th of December, 2020 #weeklysmile

Hi all! This was an odd week, though for the most part, a good week. There were a lot of small smiles in there, smiles from my dogs and cats, family and friends, work (yes, I know…), astronomical observations ( ;-) ), learning, playing music, listening to favorite music, writing, reading, and on and on.

So what is my big smile for the week? Hmm.

Perhaps a Zoom meeting with my family.

It’s been years since I have spent Christmas with my family, which is fine, but I typically see my siblings at least once a year and my parents at least twice. Most years it is more. 2019 was an odd year, and I only saw my parents once, and, because of the obvious, I haven’t seen them at all in 2020! So I have not seen a family member in the flesh since the 4ht of July, 2019.

My parents often have huge Christmas dinners with 20 or 30 people, but this year it was just them.

So a Zoom meeting was had, the second one this year.

It was nice. A nephew and a niece couldn’t make it, but all of the others did. It was nice.

So that is my smile for the week, a little family get-together via modern technology.

What made you smile?

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).   Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile.  (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).

I am so glad for you. I see my aide. She and a couple of neighbors are all that I see except for my few doctors I have to see in person or a grocery store clerk. Very frustrating for sure.

Isn’t it great that the year we have to stay apart is the same year that on-line meeting software came of age? I wonder if they felt the same way about the telephone back in 1918 during the Spanish Flu pandemic. Glad you go to see your family! Hope you have a wonderful week and a a Happy New Year.

What a WONDERFUL smile post!! I Love technology! I know it can have it’s pitfalls too, but to be able to see, hear and talk with loved ones is so COOL! Enjoy this last week of 2020!! Can’t believe it’s almost 2021! ❤️🥂🙂

Technology, with all of its downfalls and bad points, can be pretty special. And having this technology did make 2020 much more bearable. I wonder if they felt the same way about telephones back in 1918… Hope you are having a wonderful week and have a Happy new year!

I did the same thing via FaceTime on Christmas and it was the most magical day because of it. I got to see all my girls and my grand babies and it was just the best day ever. When life becomes difficult we just have to try harder to do things that make us smile. I hope this week brings you many more smiles Trent! 😉

Odd, I replied to this, but when I did, it deleted your message! Anyway, I got your comment back, but if you get two replies, that is the reason :)

Sometimes it’s easy to hit the wrong button. I often do that myself! Lol…
And yes thank goodness for technology for those times when we really do need it.
Many blessings and a Happy New Year to you too!

Zoom, and the other similar programs, are pretty easy once you get started, it is just the first step! For our Lions Club, we had someone walk the other members through it over the phone, one at a time. Once they got on that first time there weren’t any issues. Hope you have a good week and a Happy New year.

Yes we will – it has been different! Hopefully it will help everyone appreciate life a little more and so be better people. Not holding my breath, but that is my wish for the New year :)
