The Weekly Smile for November 23, 2020 #weeklysmile

I’m sure the times are a bit stressful for a lot of you out there. I know they are for me! There are many worries in the world, not the least that this pandemic is getting worse as the autumn continues. So, how do we relieve stress?

Walking often helps me quite a bit, particularly walking in the woods without the dogs ;) Last week, though,it wasn’t enough. But I did find the trick – I just did my normal exercise routine. It all just evaporated. The next day, my normal run took care of any stress that had built up.

This has been an odd year, and one of the odd things (to me) is that I have, for the most part, kept up with my exercise routines! I try to do do weight/strength exercise at least twice a week and run at least three times a week. I’ve been doing a pretty good job, and I can feel it. October and the first half of November were the worse times this year, and I was luck to get one run or one weight exercise a week in. By the beginning of November, I was feeling it. But I have gotten back on track and, wow, it does make a huge difference! My mood has greatly improved and I feel much, much better all around.

So that is my smile for the week, getting back into my exercise routine and all of the benefits it has brought.

What made you smile?

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).   Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile.  (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).

Cheers to your exercise routine. Given a Pandemic Thanksgiving, it was a different week – but hey – keep the chin up and make the best of it. Rain turning a rain and snow mix is here today. Fortunately, we were able to play outdoor pickleball the past two days ahead of the dismal stuff’s arrival.

It’s odd – the storm moved out over night last night, but the temps are still climbing and will get up to 60 today! Sunny and 60 is odd in New Hampshire on December 1, but I have to work all day…

I really feel it if I haven’t run in a while, and just a couple of days of not walking… Yes, you should try to get your walks in :) I’ll stop by in a few.

Thanks. Exercise is so good for physical and mental well-being. Several years ago I read that muscle mass as people age is a good indicator of their future health so I started my weight training. One of the best decisions I’ve made :) I’ll be by to check out your smile in a few minutes.

I think exercise is the key to the stress I know I feel better and do better if we get in 5 or 6 walks a week. I have a treadmill and a recumbent bike but I prefer to be outdoors in the fresh air.

I do walk a lot, and walking usually does it for me, but last week walking didn’t work – it was the hard-core pumping iron ;) OK, I’m not a body builder, so not so hard core, but heavy concentration as I used the weights…. Autumn is always a fabulous time to walk. Hope your week is going well :) Stay safe

Walking usually does it for me, but there are times… The good thing about photography is that your attention needs to be focused outside of yourself, so walking with a camera does help.

I never carry my phone when walking unless I am expecting something – I’m walking to get away from it! I should carry my camera more often. I do have a smaller, lighter one that doesn’t get as much use since I picked up the more professional model, but would work for day to day short walks.

Well, I’m not as popular as you and get very few calls. I really carry it for the camera. I used to have a smaller camera but the quality of the images just isn’t as good as my cell!

Exercise, or lack there of, really effects my moods quite a bit, but this was extreme – I wasn’t even done with the first rep and almost all of the stress was gone. i think it is because I have to put 100% of my thought into it so there was no room for anything else. I hope you do get a reboot this week. happy Thanksgiving :)

Self care is so important! My own exercise routine has been off and on because of my hip trouble but I am on track again with a modified routine and it really is good for mind, body and soul. Thanks for the Weekly Smile Trent have great rest of your week!
