When All Else is Grey #tanka

A bright shirt for me
With a whiff of eccentric
Fearlessly forward
I may often try to blend
But there is no use hiding

***

This was written for Colleen’s Weekly Poetry Challenge. This week was a synonyms only week using the key words hint and bold. I chose a tanka. And, no, I am not “coming out” or anything like that, I’m just talking about some of my eccentricities. Yes, I wear a hat when I am outside. I have a hat collection. And occasionally i wear strange clothes, including, on a rare occasion, that red and black jacket.

Thanks, Charlotte! If you are anything like what you project in your videos and blog, I’m sure you can easily get away with wearing anything, no matter how outlandish :) lol, when I wrote that I forgot that you sometimes -do- have to make those outlandish costumes 100% your own, like the mini-opera for bambinos that you did.

It actually might be an LL Bean jacket – my in-laws live in Maine and always seem to get me LLBean stuff for Christmas. I am a very quiet person and tend to try to melt into the background, yet I always wear my hat and seem to be dressed a little different than everyone around me (7 year old neighbor girl, “Why do you always dress up?” Hmm, this isn’t dressed up…)

lol, yes, but I couldn’t have entered Colleen’s challenge ;) I actually did write a limerick for (it wasn’t about me ;) ), but I received an error when trying to post the comment on your page. I meant to get back to it, but never did. And, of course, I lost the limerick. Maybe I’ll have another go at it.
