If We Were Having Coffee on the 16th of November, 2019

Coffee in NH with Moog

Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a mug of very strong Dark Roast (my personal blend ;) ), a cuppa tea or other beverage.  It is still a bit cold, but will warm up a little today. Right now it is sunny and beautiful!  We did have a cold and windy week.  In my state we saw down to -17 F with winds over 100 mph! Of course that was the top of Mt. Washington. It only felt that cold and windy here ;)  Where are we? I gave it away, but for those who didn’t guess or don’t know the photo at the top, I am in New Hampshire today.

This week I tried to stay warm ;)  I worked.  I played with the dogs, as always.  I took long walks. I read. I wrote. I finished my studio reorg and played some music.  Last night I started to work on my first piece of new music in the “new” studio :) I ran and exercised. I went to Lions Club. We had a guest who talked about her 11 years in Kenya, which was interesting.  I have several African friends on the blog, but nobody from that part of the continent.

Photo below is a very cold sunset out of my kitchen window.

window

Quick word about the cold snap and the Mt. Washington observations – Within 2 weeks at the start of November Mt. Washington had a record high (52 F on the 1st) and a record low (-17 F on the 13th).  100 mph + winds are not unusual there.

For the most part, though, this was an uneventful week.

Blogging went very well, except for my smile post.  I just wrote a long rant, but deleted it – no need to frown over smiles :)

That’s about it. Thanks for dropping by! I hope your week went well and that you have a great weekend!

The Weekend Coffee share is hosted by Eclectic Ali .  This week’s share is here. and the link up is here. (Note – this will be the last week for the “share” part of the coffee share until January since Ali is taking a well deserved break from it.)

Hi Trent! Curious as to what the rant was about – hope it was not discouragement!
And tea for me because I am pausing from coffee –
Oh and the 11 years in Kenya sounds like a fun thing to listen in on. One of the nurses at FIL retirement center just had her family here from Kenya and we got to meet them –
One of the things the uncle said was how “busy busy” a lot of folks are in the states and England

I remember visiting Italy in the late 1990s. The world was completely different from the US or UK. People were laid back and relaxed. There was no rush. It seemed like paradise in comparison to the rat race… And it is even worse here now than it was – technology instead of giving us more free time makes it so people expect a months worth of work in a day. Oh well, those poor Kenyans visiting this mad house ;)

The rant was about WordPress and my smile post. I realized after a few hours that it didn’t show up in people’s readers. it happens occasionally, and I just repost. I reposted, but then I received several messages that people were receiving an error when they tried to go to the post. So I reposted again. I reposted at least five times and some people still had issues with it!

Oh that must have been annoying to have the issues with the post – I did notice some security glitches on WordPress this month – like clicking to go to certain blogs led to ads – but it has not happened in last few days –
And the note about Italy – exactly ties in…
And the Kenyans were cool – the same guy that said the busy busy also said he worked one office building over from Obama’s dad’s office years ago!

And the part about expecting a month’s worth of work is so true or whispers of the change me expectations from employers – –
And here is to smiling with friends in the blogosphere 😊🙏

I will admit that one problem with the post is that I had it scheduled – I almost never schedule posts, and find that if I do with my phone, it will post at the time I wrote it! I wrote and scheduled it on my PC, and it said it posted at the time I asked for it to post, but it was no where to be found. I know people who schedule every post with no issues, but not me.

I have written about work expectations in the past, so won’t go into it now, but will say that in many industries profit margins are so tight, the companies have to do it to stay competitive. I don’t want us to have laws like France on the amount of time people are allowed to work, but can’t think of another way to not burn people out early…

If you haven’t seen, I am doing a major blog slow-down until the after Thanksgiving, so December. If I don’t stop by to say “hi”, that is why :)

thanks for letting me know about your slow down – and glad we can always email too.

and I have scheduled a few posts and have not had problems – however, trying to unschedule the post was hard – cannot recall why…
ok – have a great rest of your day and be in touch soon

The sunsets have been extraordinarily beautiful this week. YOu will have to take my word for since I did not have a chance to snap any pics.

Trent, what a lovely photo! I am not sure you should delete your rants. Maybe put them in a different category from the ‘smile’ posts. Something good could come out of them. Of course, this from the gal who likes to report the latest pains of getting old, but I consider that category ‘trying to stay healthy.’ Ups and downs, I guess. Have a great week!

The problem with my rant is it was a rant about my Smile post ;) Actually, it was a rant about the weird things WordPress did with the post this week.. I occasionally post rants, but rarely about aging – I hope I am going the way of a fine wine ;) lol At least that is what I am telling myself. Uhm. Until I can’t find my reading glasses again. Oh well.

Beautiful sunset! We can’t see them that well from the house unless they are over the top…too many trees here. But I like the trees. It’s always good to have a room reorganized. We’re having the interior painted this week, so everything got moved. I hope to be more organized when we put all the stuff back. Maybe with less stuff. We’ll see.

Our house it on a hill. The back looks at the steep, wooded hillside, but the front looks out over town. We are too deep into the valley to see many of the surrounding hills, but it is still a pretty view.

Reorganizing is always good, as is freshening up a room. We really need to paint… The studio reorg was in many ways more of a logical reorganization. I did move equipment around, but none of the huge, heavy things like the last time I did it. Much of it was signal routing, which completely changed from beginning to end.

I hope your weekend is going well and that you have a wonderful week ahead :)

You really remind me of both my son and my brother. Both of them constantly busy with something, often many things at the same time. I do miss my brother. He died 12-years ago of pancreatic cancer and oddly, my son looks SO much like him, sometimes it’s almost eery. Yup, I could use that hot coffee. Or maybe cocoa. I have some in the kitchen. I think I’ll heat some water.

I always have to be busy, but I am the opposite of a workaholic – most of what I stay busy with are my interests and hobbies. But I don’t do well with downtime. I’m sorry about your brother. And, yeah, today is colder than expected and hot cocoa might hit the spot… I have a nephew that looks more like my son than my brother’s son. Kind of odd how genetics sometimes work.

I love they way you can take what is basically an average week and make it sound so exciting. (Well, except for the fact that most of us don’t have friends visiting from Kenya). You are an exceptional writer. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Trent.

Wow, that is cold for Texas. I spent part of a winter in the Dallas area and it didn’t get that cold, though there was an ice storm or two… That would be great if you could join when it is back up and running :)

Thank you for the coffee!! BEAUTIFUL sunset photo. And y’all have thicker blood than I enduring that cold weather. Haha, I just shared about my cold weather here at 48 degrees last night. It will be in the 80’s today or high 70’s at least. I’ll have to check weather…. But that’s why SoCal is so crowded, can’t beat the weather here. You get a lot done in your week!! Thanks again for the coffee! 😃❤️

It was a beautiful sunset :) I actually don’t like hot weather – 48 as a low and then 80 as high wouldn’t be bad, but high 80s? 90s? no. 100s!?!? No way! My body does not function correctly at much over 80 and I spend half of the summer wishing for autumn (though I love kayaking :) ). Thanks for stopping by! Hope your weekend is going well.

A was a pretty good week. Part of what made the woman’s talk interesting, besides the fact that she saw many sides of the country from the rich boardrooms to the worst slums, is that she was very passionate about the subject matter. Maybe some time your husband will travel to Kenya when you are able to go along.

Hi Maria – actually, no, that was my original “Coffee Share” photo I took over five years ago! I occasionally still bring it up just so I have different photos. It was a pretty evening all over – I think I saw more sunset photos on Facebook Wednesday than I have on any other single day. Thanks for joining me! Have a great weekend and a safe journey!
