If We Were Having Coffee on the 3rd of August, 2019

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a mug of very strong French Roast, a cuppa tea or something else, perhaps something cold.  It is warm, but more than that a bit humid, so the house is stuffy.  We can go out back were there is a pleasant breeze.  See that picture at the top?  That’s were we will be sitting.  Do you recognized it?  If so, you know that we are on Cape Cod.

Yes, I left The Cape Sunday morning and drove back on Wednesday evening.  I’m spending a lot of time here!  Why?  Besides the obvious that the Cape is great ;)  Last week I came down to clean up after the tornado.  This week we are having a visitor come in from Denver.  There is also going to be work done this week.  I changed my telework agreement so I only go to the office if I have to.  There is a huge amount of work needed on this place.  We just listed the old place for sale, so there has been a lot of prep work and a lot more to do.  If it wasn’t for the cats, I would most likely stay down here full time.  As it is, I do have one cat, Albert, with me.  (Here is one of many posts about Albert).

Work has been extremely busy.  I have several big projects going on.  Enough said ;)

I did get out and kayak yesterday.  It was very nice.  I’m going to be enjoying what Cape Cod has to offer as the week goes on – I took Monday off.

A lot has been going on, but not much more to say.  I should start doing some work around the house – I’m behind and want it a little presentable for company.  I also need to get out and enjoy the day.

Thanks for stopping by!  If you have a coffee share I will try to make it over, but no promises.

The Weekend Coffee share is hosted by Eclectic Ali .  This week’s share is here. and the link up is here.

Moving is always a pain, no matter how good it is. Great to hear you can telework… that’s the kind of work I need, where I can set my own hours…. wait, I do have that, it’s called marriage! Hope you have an awesome week. Gotta try kayaking sometime.

I can believe it. As I said, going to the office is so strange because i don’t work with anyone around here. There are people in Burlington, MA that I occasionally interact with, but not a soul in the Nashua office where my desk sits. One problem is that part of me going almost full time telework is that they moved my office – I used to be in a large semi-private room with two other people who teleowk 90% of the time, so I was usually alone. Now I will be in cube-land surround by people I don’t know, people who have very active office-social lives. I’ve always hated cube-land and can’t work when people are around me. I never have been able to.

Albert has had a hard life – He was a street cat in Kuwait, was hit by a car, had his leg amputated, the vet was going to put him down, but the person who rescued him from the car put her foot down. He is FIV positive, so sensitive to illnesses. Somehow she got him in a shelter in the US. He has been happy and mostly health for almost 10 years with us, but every so often he goes downhill. When we were away earlier this year, on returning I was sure he had hours to live. Now he is back and as ornery as ever. He hated the drive here, but has been doing really well and enjoys being part of everything. I’m sure he will get used to traveling back and forth every couple of weeks…

Looks like a great place to sit and have coffee. Wish i were close enough to visit. And it’s wonderful that you can work out your schedule for work to be home more. I actually do about 75% of my work at my home now as well. The actual teaching and ministry meetings are on location, of course, but the prep for all that — and my personal writing and editing are all done at my home computer. It’s great.

It is a nice spot that I have not taken advantage of enough. We are still trying to get the house in order, not an easy task with all of the work that needs to be done.
Working from home has been great. Almost 2 hours a day of drive time have been freed up. And, of course, the ability to work from my second house makes having a second house worth it. I can understand you doing prep work at home. I’ve known enough people in similar vocations/occupations to know that most of the work is behind the scences.

That’s awesome that you get more flexibility with work, so that you can enjoy Cape Cod even more! Congratulations to that! Kayaking sounds wonderful, I hope to do some more of that this fall. It’s too hot now, most nights have a low of 85..the days 110.

I’m sometimes not happy with a high of 85…. but then , the humidity here can be so awful that you sweat at 70!It is great that have this much flexibility. I do have responsibilities in New Hampshire, so do need to be there, but this does allow a lot more time here.

It is a lovely spot…. There is actually no reason for me to be in “the office” since nobody I work with works there. And it is great. It frees me up to use my house on Cape Cod more often and it makes it easier for just about everything. Thanks! I hope you have a great weekend!
