The Weekly Smile for the 29th of July, 2019 #weeklysmile

weeklysmile2a

This last week was very interesting with a lot to smile about.  If you read my coffee share post, you read about a few of them, but not what I am going to bring up as this week’s Weekly Smile :)

One of my old friends has had health issues for most of her life.  Lately they have been knee issues.  She is going to have to have surgery on her knees this winter.  I was talking to my sister about this.  She has had the same surgery and said my friend could borrow her (wheeled) walker and crutches if needed.  “If” being that she will need them, but if nobody else has already lent some to her.  Great.

Last week my friend was in a lot of pain and had a hard time walking.  She could not put any weight on her bad leg.  Being 600 miles away, there’s not a lot I could do.  Maybe…

I called my sister.  She is an hour and a half drive away from my friend, but her daughter (my niece) lives less than 10 miles from my friend.  My sister was about to leave to pick up her grandson.  She tossed the walker in her car and dropped it off with her daughter while picking up her grandson.  My niece then drove to my friends apartment and dropped off the walker.

The walker will help now, though may not be the best thing (if you can’t put weight on the knee, how can you use the walker?) but it will help.  And she will need it in a few months when she finally gets in for the surgery.  It is a must have.

So, from a Facebook post about pain to her having walker “in hand” was around 24 hours.  Not bad, hey?  Sure, it was all between friends and family, but still, you got to love it when a plan works out.

That is my smile, several people coming together to help someone out on the spur of the moment.

What made you smile?

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small.  Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile!  Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones :)

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).   Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile.  (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).

Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.

You can use the graphic at the top. It is the official graphic for the event.

Now go out there and find something to smile about! :)

Trent I really love this! What an act of kindness. <3 Blessings to you and your friend – and your sister. Sorry I've been out of touch. I'll have a good weekly smile for this Friday's "Forgiving Fridays" :) ~All the best, Debbie

When you need one, yes, they are great. My friend most likely could have used my sister’s crutches too, but I forgot about them – she sometimes can’t put any weight on the leg. I’ll be over in a bit to see the smile :)
