If We Were Having Coffee on the 10th of March 2019

coffee-in-the-snow

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in!  Brush the snow off of your shoulders and we’ll get you a nice mug of very strong Sumatra/French Roast blend, a cuppa tea or some hot cocoa.  Brrr.  Not as cold as it has been, but the snow makes it feel cold.  Yep, a typical mid-January week.  Oh.  That’s right.  It’s March.  Anyway, some of you may know that photo at the top of the page as being from New Hampshire.

We had another week where it didn’t get above freezing for most of the week.  The high on Thursday was around 20 F/ -7 C.  It got down just above 0 F/ -18 C.  Very typical mid-January, but March?  And it has been like this a lot this winter since the Jet Stream has had an odd kink and so has been pulling the cold arctic air our direction.  We had a bit of snow Sunday night into Monday (it was about 10 inches when I first went out, but later it had settled and packed down to a wet, heavy 4 inches.)  As I said, we are getting snow again today.

OK, on the other hand, Saturday was quite warm.  I spent a lot of time outside.  Pretty much the entire day. I went running, did many dog walks, played with the dog, chipped at ice (it is still as hard as concrete since it has been so cold), went shopping (OK, inside), and just hung out in the sun because, well, it’s been cold and the sun felt good!

This week was about getting back to work after a few days off.  It was about staying warm ;)  It was about getting back into my exercise routine.  It was about massage on Wednesday.  It was about playing around with my piano.  I wrote and posted four stories on the blog this week.  Well, that includes the 100 word Friday Fictioneers.  One story was based on a painting I made years ago.  I manipulated the painting and posted several versions as part of the story.  Here is the final:

The Painting - Scary

Pleasant, right? ;)

Anyway, not a lot to talk about.  I am going to try to be mellow today, but also have a lot of stuff to do around the house.  And, of course, shoveling when the snow ends.

The original Coffee Share kind of died out, but it has been revived!  Eclectic Alli is hosting a coffee share.  This week’s share is here. and the link up is here.

Love the green in the glass and snowy NH photo !
And I would not mind a bit more snow (as I have said before) but we had rain and rain and rain!
Sun is out on Tuesday and getting some rays as we speak – finally – not strong rays but I’ll take it (and send you a little ☀️☀️☀️☀️)
And glad you were able to play piano and the painting is pleasant –

A warm Van Gogh and a cold New Hampshire make a good mix! It has been warmer here the last few days and the snow is starting to go, though the ice in placers is still like concrete… I do enjoy winter, particularly in January and February, but I am done with the extreme cold….

A pleasant painting of a vampire or some other undead woman ;)

Yeah, Buffalo can have totally awful winters, particularly if the lake doesn’t freeze and they get foot after foot of lake effect snow… Brrrr. Well, it’s a bit warmer where you are now ;)

Yeah, I heard it at least once. I know someone pointed me to a video of it at least once. Lived in Texas before – prefer Ohio ;) But prefer the east coast over that!

And they were just on some radio show last week – think it was the anniversary of “deja vu” album???

It has been a “January kind of March” here, too. Not all that much snow but the constant being in snow watch in a place that usually only gets one or two days of it all year. And this year I have to drive in it and I can’t stand driving in inclement weather!

I begin to worry that our winter storms will not end until the late-spring rainstorms begin. Hibernation would have been a good option, were it available. Survival! :D

We haven’t had a huge amount of snow the last two or three weeks, but, strangely enough, we’ve had about four times as much snow in those weeks than the rest of the winter combined, and almost all of the earlier snow was in November! Yep, I want to hibernate ;) Hope you have a good (and snow free) week.

Our snow the other night didn’t amount to much more than a dusting. Most of the winter they have been preparing for a huge storm and we get a dusting or rain. Though we have had blizzards in April so 6 weeks left to wonder and worry.

Today’s snow was about 4 inches when the rain started and 2 inches of slush when the rain ended. We often have snow on the ground until April, so I’m not discounting anything, but I do hope Spring is here before then…

This snow can end any time now. On the other hand, yesterday we got rain and now that’s frozen so everything is covered in ice. And it’s really windy. But it’s 35 which is warmer, I suppose, than 32. Still….in Florida things were blooming and it was in the mid 80s. I actually got HOT at the baseball game. And I walked barefoot in the Gulf of Mexico. Ahhhh memories.

I think I’m about ready to go to Florida and walk barefoot in the Gulf… Oh well, I will shovel today, but it will be warmer this week and hopefully most of the snow will go away and we will eventually see Spring. Hope you get a bit of Spring coming up as well :)

Yeah, given your part of the world I am sure the cold does seem a bit extreme. Wait. in part of the world the cold seems… oh, never mind ;) It is supposed to be a little warmer this coming week, so that helps.

I can see that you already explored the painting a little farther. I kind of like this “scary” version the best.

      Have a good week, Robbie!

I think the rain snow line is pretty much Connecticut right now, but it will move north. The amount of snow we get depends on when the rain reaches us… Yes, I am ready for spring! The Van Gogh mug is cool – I like that warm scene sits in the snow. Thanks! Have a great week!

This is a year I really wanted to hibernate! It is always cold in New Hampshire and I am always sick of winter by March, but since 90% of our snow has come in the last two weeks or so, it just feels worse this March.

I’m sure we a due a batch of snow, just when you think you’ve turned a corner. Will bring us to a standstill for a few days and then be gone in a blink of an eye. Nothing like your corner of the world though.
