Fish in the river
Swimming along with the flow
Doesn’t see the bird

Written for Colleen’s Poetry challenge. Each week she gives us two keywords, only we must use synonyms only, not the words themselves. This week we were free to choose keywords and the key words I chose were “Water” and “Current” This week I decided to do a haiku, and though that rhymes, the haiku doesn’t ;).
(Last week’s poem was called “Life ;)”, but this is the other side of Life…)
That’s life…

Great photo …. and fitting for the Haiku. Did the photo inspire the Haiku, or did the photo come to mind after writing?

Thanks, Frank. I had zero inspiration, so I was going through photos I had posted and this one came up, so the photo inspired the poem.

Thanks! Yes, I was lucky and got to watch several osprey fishing right in front of me for about 30 minutes. I got tons of photos, but this is my favorite.

Actually, our two exchanges reminds me of a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon – Calvin tells Hobbes that his motto is live each day like it was your last because you never know, today you may step off of the curb and be creamed by a cement mixer. He then asks Hobbes what his Motto is. Hobbes reply “Look both ways” ;)

And it kind of reminds me of the verse that says to “walk circumspectly”

yes. A big fish like that thinks it is top of the food chain, and then , wham… of course, sometimes the same thing happens to us, being blindsided by life and all….
