If We Were Having Coffee on the 13th of October

Coffee in NH with Moog

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a nice steaming mug of a very strong Sumatra Roast.  You can have a cuppa tea, some cocoa or other beverage, but I would recommend something warm.  It’s a bit chilly out there!  We hit 80 F (17 C) earlier in the week, and this morning it is 40 F (4 C).  I haven’t turned on the heat yet.  I’m avoiding it!  I won’t tell you how much I pay for heat, but it is several times more than all of my other utilities, including cell phones, TV, Internet, etc., combined.  I keep the heat off as long as I can stand it….  And where am I freezing my puppies?  Some of you may recognize that photo at the top as being in New Hampshire.

Some of you may be asking where I was last weekend.  Of course, I’m sure most of you scratched your head and said, “What?” when you read that last sentence. Doesn’t matter, I will tell you anyway ;)  I was in Ohio for a wedding.  It was nice.  A My parents and sisters live in Vermilion and my brother and his family visited.  I did take some photos, which I still have to go through.  I did look at some of the reception photos and posted a few the other day.  Here is a sample.

Inter-Dimensional Dancing

Looks like some good inter-dimensional fun, doesn’t it?  You can read about this photo here if you are curious.

Coming back from a little trip like this (not that photo!  No tripping of any sort there!) anyway, as I started to say before you snickered about what you thought was a drug reference, after coming back from a little trip like this, I have a huge amount of catching up to do.  I have been busy!  But I am catching up.  And things are going well.

I guess the big thing is that I picked up the new car, a Kia Niro.  It is actually for my wife.  I drove it about 30 miles the other day and really like it.  I averaged over 55 mpg!  That is why we picked this car.  But it is also a great car.

After a few days away I got back into my exercise routine.  So good there.

Today, with all of the other stuff, mostly winterizing the house, I have to go buy a clothes drier.  Ours died.  It was about 21 years old, so it wasn’t new.  Not looking forward to it.  Nor am I looking forward to replacing our refrigerators, which will need to be done sometime in the next year or two.

Oh, and in case you forgot, I am restarting the Weekly Smile on Monday!  I hope you stop by and perhaps join in!

Well, that’s about it.  I have a super busy day planned.  Thanks for stopping by!  If you have a coffee share, I’ll try to stop in and say “Hi!”.  Have a great week ahead!

The original Coffee Share kind of died out, but it has been revived!  Eclectic Alli is hosting a coffee share.  This week’s share is here. and the link up is here. Come on and join in!  Hopefully we can bring it back to its former glory!

It’s so good to catch up from time to time. I received “The Hailley Branch” this morning. And if I am good I’ll write a review :)
I considered joining in on the coffee sharing fun yesterday, but I am not the only one who decides, and when it’s the weekend and I am not working the kids take over, as did the good weather.

Nice to see you, Solveig. I hope you enjoy the book! I did see a sale in France but wasn’t sure if it was you or my friend in Geneva – when she bought a book, she did it from Amazon France as well.

Good weather always makes it hard to join the coffee share. I can imagine the combination of good weather and children…. I hope you can join in sometime.

Can there be anything more tragic than a creative mind distracted by need to replace durable goods…? Oh well, 21 years is a good run. And family time that produces such cool photos – well, I hope it was as much fun as it looks.

Congrats on the new car! Hopefully you’ll save enough in gas to offset your heating bill! I would die – I freeze all the time. There is a space heater on my feet as I type this. Love the pics! So fun to experiment in low light.. I have to say I’m a bit anxious to replace my fridge. It was given to me when I bought my house and is a late 80s model. I’m looking forward to the upgrade but can’t bring myself to replace something that still works. Thanks for the coffee and have a great week!

Thanks. I do well in the cold – much better than in the heat! I can put on a wool sweater, but if it’s hot, there is only so much you can take off. That being said, I hate AC. I think it’s idiotic that people keep places colder in the summer than they do in the winter.

My refrigerator is making a bad noise every time it stops running. I know that one is next. I like to keep appliances until they die. On the other hand, new models are usually much more efficient.

I hope your weekend is going well and that you have a great week!

Vermilion, home of the Woollybear Festival. :) That is a very cool photo.

Some of our big appliances are on their last legs, too. The washer and the fridge are asking to be replaced. Those are big expenditures. Another reason I’m keeping the heat off until the cold is too much. Our heating bill is outrageous, too.

Yes, Vermilion is now known for the Woolybear Festival. When I was growing up the Festival of the Fish was the big event. Back then there was still a commercial fishing fleet in Vermilion!

I hope you are having a good weekend. Also hope you didn’t get any storm damage.

I do enjoy the cooler weather, though today it rained all day. Not sure if I like that ;) I’m sure you must be enjoying that it is cooling down there! In the winter I typically wear a turtleneck and heavy wool sweater.
I hope your weekend is going well!

My husband likes to try and keep the heat off as long as possible as well, this year hasn’t gone well for him since it has been snowing off and on since September!

Weddings are great and that picture is really cool.

Great coffee post, thanks for sharing.

2018 has just been awful for heat – I have averaged more per month than our mortgage and about double (in that average month) than what I paid for an entire year in the last house I had. I am going to have to turn on the heat this weekend. At least it’s not snowing here!

      Thanks. Weddings are always nice.

I hope you are having a great weekend.

I am thinking that the next house I move to might need to have a woodstove as well as a furnace. The woodstove would be good for these early cold days, just take the chill out for the house for the day and not have to put the heat of until late fall or November.

Weekend has been good so far. Off to a play date with the kids later today.

Hope your weekend is great too!

I broke down and turned on the heat this AM. yes, I think a wood stove or something to just take a bit of the chill out when needed. Also as supplement. I have used electric heaters as supplement, and am going to do even more this year.

Weekend here is going well. I’ve been keeping busy, but that’s good. Hope your play date with the kids is fun.
