If We Were Having Coffee on the 23rd of June, 2018

Hello and Welcome!  Come in out of the rain and I’ll get you a large mug of a strong Sumatra Roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage.  It is cool here today.  Actually, it has been cool here lately and will continue to be so for a while, which is why I like it here – the winters and summers aren’t as extreme as just a few miles away.  And where is this magical land of which I speak?  Looking at the mugs at the top of the page sum may guess “Pepperland”, but no, I am in Dennis Port on Cape Cod this weekend.

Overall it has been a good week.  Work has been busy and there have been a a few setbacks, though hopefully everything has been taken care of.  It was hot at the beginning of the week, hot and humid, but I am a little more acclimated to it than I usually am this early in the summer.

I drove done to Cape Cod on Wednesday night and worked from here Thursday and Friday.  I didn’t do much Thursday, but I was able to spend almost an hour and a half on the kayak on Friday and then did a long walk in the woods after returning.  It was great.  Unfortunate it is rainy today.  I may end up inside most of the day.  I do have a ton of writing and other work I can do.  but then, if the rain does end, I’ll be off.

Hey, it is actually summer now.  Since i work, I am up pretty early (today being Saturday I slept in until 6:15 ;) ).  So on Thursday I was at the landing just a little after 6.  yes, i missed dawn, but it was close:

In the evening I was back at the landing to watch the setting sun.  Of course i came back later as the sky was glowing and just stood and watched.  So here is the end of the longest day:

I hit the landing a little later n Friday, so I got a slightly different photo:

It is pretty down here!

I saw quite a few osprey when I was out on the kayak.  I also saw a redtailed hawk being harassed by blackbirds.  At one time, that redtailed hawk came by and was harassing an osprey.  I think it was hoping that the blackbirds would leave it alone and start going after the osprey instead.  I’m not sure.  But they are not really competitors, since the osprey eat fish and the redtailed hawk eat rodents and such.

I may get up and play some music.  I’m talking with my hands.  You know, keyboards/synthesizers.  Anyway, I sit in front of a computer all week, so I hope you dont’ mind that I’m leaving you right now.  But I’ll try to come back and visit you if you have a coffee share.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week!

The original Coffee Share kind of died out, but it has been revived!  Eclectic Alli is hosting a coffee share.  This week’s share is here. and the link up is here. Come on and join in!  Hopefully we can bring it back to its former glory :)

Thanks! I usually don’t think of Illinois as hot, sultry, but then I had cousins who lived in hot, sultry Kentucky just a few miles from the Illinois border, so… Yes, I enjoy being in New England.

Yes, I took the photos with my phone and used Instagram as a way to get them to my computer. Thanks! I will be here all week, so a lot of walking the beach and kayaking for me…

I hope you have a great week!

I’m so glad to see the Coffee Share revived! (I’ve obviously been out of the loop for a little bit…) And, as has already been mentioned, those pics are gorgeous! Very peaceful!

Thanks. It is a great place to just relax. Getting this cottage was one of the best things I ever did – I can be at “home” and get away at the same time.

Hope your weekend is going well.

Hi Trent. Lovely shots of the water around sunrise. Quiet – mind clearing. We have redtail hawks here too and I love catching them in the stately act of hunting from wires above open fields. If I pay attention, I can see about 1 a week making a catch. Once a number of us saw one catch a large snake and tote it around for a while. I expected him to drop the reptile, but no joy – just flying around showing off I think.

I always enjoy your visits – have a great week.

Watching any bird of prey is always great. It’s really cool watching the osprey fish – they dive straight in with a huge splash. The first time I saw it happen one went in maybe 30 or 40 feet from my kayak. Talking about a huge surprise!

      Have a great week!

Lovely evening photographs across the lake. I especially like the first of the evening shots with the textured clouds reflected in the water near the shore. So beautiful!

I hope at some point to replace my studio piano with a portable keyboard. Making music is a great stress reliever for me. So is dance, but then the puppies want to join in…which gets complicated. :D

Best wishes for the week, and thanks much for the visit. Enjoyed it very much!

Dancing with puppies is always fun ; ) I do have little spinet back in NH, but for the most part I play electronic instruments. Today I was playing around with a recreation of a classic synthesizer from the 1970s, so I’ve been busy recreating every Prog Rock, fusion and funk solo I can think of.

It is pretty here, and with the very shallow water on Swan Pond, the sunsets are always reflected just right.

      Have a great week!
