PHOTO PROMPT © Marie Gail Stratford

We entered the house, me in front, followed by Ben, who I knew held the gun.  He couldn’t see my smile.

My partner, Rose, would be out of sight and be able to strike Ben before he knew she was there.

Walking into the kitchen with confidence, I noticed the note.

“Finish the job or I nip this flower in the bud.”

“Rose?” I called out.

“Mr. Ng arrived first,” Ben said.

I turned to him.

“It’s you or her.”  He smiled.  “Partner.”  It wasn’t a nice smile.

I saw the dead flowers as we left and thought of Rose.

Note – This is a continuation of the stories from the last two weeks, 1. On the Run and 2. Partners.  And once again, Rochelle threw me for a loop with the photo ;)

I am stopping this here.  I am 90% sure that I will sit down and write a true short story from these three clips, but the 100 word stories are not a good way for a serial, particularly if I want to have “a beginning, middle and end” in each installment.  And to make them all so they can be read as a stand alone…  So this is it.  I hope you enjoyed the little bit of adventure :)

I wouldn’t be wanting my life to depend on Ben coming to my rescue. Then again, he could well be the sort of crook who accidentally shoots himself in the foot instead.
Not every crook is destined for greatness!

A bit of background on Ben (which will be part of the longer story) – he is an assassin that has gone rogue. No trusting him! Perhaps the MC has more tricks up his (or her, I never said) sleeve….

I hope Rose is a resourceful woman. I think it’s down to her now. You’ve given us three great flash stories, and I really hope you turn them into a proper short story with a link from your FF post. Great job, Trent!

It is a crowded boat. Even with two books listed, I have a couple of hundred thousand people selling better than I am! It might be a bit better today, but my books were down so there were about 5 million books that sold better! Very hard to break in…

Nope. I just need to get more people to take notice, thus my original statement, I’m waiting for the world to realize that I’m “da writer” ;)

Honor, or dishonor… Our MC felt he didn’t have much of a choice. If he had refused, he felt both him and Rose would be dead, but going he at least had time to think of another plan.
