If We Were Having Coffee on the 3rd of February, 2018

Coffee in NH with Moog

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you steaming cup of your favorite morning beverage, be it my typical super strong Sumatra Roast, a cuppa tea (black, green, herbal, etc.) or maybe even cocoa.  Don’t let all of that sunshine fool you, it is frigid out there! And where are we this fine, if cold, morning?  Some of you may recognize that McDonald’s Pub mug as living in New Hampshire.

What a week!  But, hmm, what can I say?  There was work.  of course.  The less said, the better.  Yeah, one of those weeks.

I did a ton of writing.  Actually, no, not writing.  I did a ton of editing and revising.  I mentioned in my last coffee share that I was going to have to pick The Halley Branch up again, and I have.  I have added almost 10K words and changed twice that number.  I am trying to breath life into the characters, particularly those that are important but had previously been given short shrift.  As one of the character in the book says, there is good and evil in all of us, even heroes and villains.   That has to come across or the character rings false.  No character, however minor, should ever be a prop.  That is what I am doing, changing some props into people.  It is going well, and I may call this draft, the fourth draft, done in about a week.

I ran twice this week, which is good (on Monday and Thursday).  I have to run.  I am not joking.  It is the only thing that I have found that keeps my blood pressure normal.  Meds don’t do it.  Diet doesn’t do it.  Cycling might, but that takes even more time and is harder to do in the winter.  Weight/strength exercise does nothing for my blood pressure.  Kayaking?  Nope.  Walking or hiking two hours a day? No.  Only running.  So I have to get out more, and I can feel it.

Anyway, I have a long list of things that need to be done around the house, bitter cold or not.  I’ve been sitting at my computer for too long already.  Yes, I’ve been writing/editing/revising/etc. all morning.  Well, two dog walks in the cold.  So, I hate to be rude, but I’m going to have to say ‘Goodbye’.  I’ll be popping on and off the blog and hope to do some coffee share visiting later.

Nice to have the chat!  I hope you have a great week!  Talk to you later.

The original Coffee Share kind of died out, but it has been revived!  Eclectic Alli is hosting a coffee share.  This week’s share is here. and the link up is here. Come on and join in!  Hopefully we can bring it back to its former glory :)

At one time I stopped bicycling, running etc. My BP went through the roof. I was on meds for about a decade, but am not any more. I have to watch it closely – I hated the effects the meds had, mostly on my attitude and energy levels.

Yeah, it sometimes takes a while to get back into it . Even if I don’t run for only a couple of weeks, the first time back is awful!

I love to bike ride, hike etc but running has never been my thing. Our bodies were meant to move and get exercise so the more we can do the healthier we will be.

We do need to constantly move. They now say that you shouldn’t sit for more than 30 minutes at a time, that you need to continue to get up and move around.

Editing sounds like it is going well, and you make good points in regards to your edit goals during this revision. As for running I HAVE to run to, but it truly is interesting the health benefits that they say are built into it. So, I suppose it isn’t the worst thing that we could HAVE to do. Hope it is a great day.

The editing is going well. Once it gets into the nitty gritty stuff, that is when it will become a pain. Each time I go through I do have goals and things I am looking for, though if I see something else, great.

Besides the fact that I pretty much have to run for health reasons, I enjoy running, so it is a win-win. I don’t have any half marathons planned, but I might plan on doing another 10k this year. It was a strange, damp day, but I did make it out for my run.

      Have a great week!

With a covering of snow and ice we received over night, I might make it out today, but I’ll keep running as long as my knees can take it :) Thanks. I hope your weekend is going well.

Well done on the editing front, Trent and I hope those characters are coming along well. I saw a funny clip on FB tonight of dogs running in the snow and disappearing. Do dogs tend to like running or playing in the snow or does it depend on the dog? I took ours for a walk tonight. Rosie went by herself and then I thought I might be able to manage Zac and Lady together. Lady is good on the lead and a bit of a slow walker like me. Well, Zac was going round in circles he was so keen to take off. So, I ended up putting him through Lady’s lead and he was out in front and he had the combined weight of Lady and myself to pull him back. This was a great idea from my point of view but I’m sure he didn’t agree. Zac also worked out how to open our front screen door and so Geoff has re attached it so you have to push up to open it instead. Having pups is reminding me of when the house had to be toddler proof!
Hope you have a great week!
    Best wishes,
    Rowena

Our dogs have all loved the snow. There is nothing on earth better than playing in it. And with two of them, it is wild.

Good idea for slowing Zac down. A persistent dog can be more than a handful to keep under control… They are like toddlers and will get into anything left unattended, or out once they figure out how to do it.

Hope your weekend is going well. Have a great week!

Would love to see some photos of your dogs in the snow. I found a video clip on Facebook and it looked amazing with the dogs leaping through the snow leaving their silhouetttes behind them.

It is supposed to get warm today, but there is a couple of cm of ice on the ground, so i can’t walk, let alone run… Right now I am doing larger scale editing, so it is going well. When I sit down and go into the nitty gritty of is when it will no longer be fun ;) I think I am going to send this one out to be professionally edited after I do as much low-level editing as I can stand…

Thanks for stopping by. I hope your weekend is going well :)

I haven’t ever been a runner. I did enjoy it the few times I got to go running in college but a car accident wrecked my knee. Six knee surgeries later and I have trouble walking, let alone running. :( I’m glad you are able to stay healthy and enjoy the running while you’re at it.

That is too bad that an accident when you are so young has hindered you that much. A lot of runners have knee issues, but my knees actually feel better now than they did 10 years ago, I think because i do more weight training, so take more of the stress on muscle, not on joint. But I do feel lucky that I am still able to run. I’m not sure what I will do when I can no longer run.

I hope your weekend is going well.

Glad you got some editing done this week. It’s cold here in Michigan too. I’ve been on a few dog walks today in the snow and wind. No fun. Katie is dressed appropriately, though I can’t seem to get enough layers on to be comfortable. I used to run…but that was years and years ago. I have fond memories of it though.

It has warmed up (still low 20s), and the sun feels great, so I actually removed layers. I no longer have the Hot Chillis on.I hope to run until I am physically unable to, and I hope that day is a long way off!

      Have a great week!

Yes, it’s been a busy day. i do usually try to keep moving, keep busy, all weekend. A bit of relaxing, of course, is always good, and often “blog-visiting” can be very relaxing.

Hope you are having a good weekend.
