If We Were Having Coffee on the 28th of October, 2017!

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large mug of very strong Sumatra Roast, a cuppa tea or some other beverage.  It was cool early this morning, but has been warming up.  I think it is warmer out than in, which isn’t saying much – the house is pretty cold!  And where are we today?  Some of you may recognize the mugs at the top as belong to the cottage on Cape Cod.

It’s been a while!  I started a little blogging slowdown about two months ago.  I am still in it…  I went from over a dozen posts a week to three or four.  I also stopped posted on weekends.  So it has been about two months since a Coffee Share post.  Unfortunately, I think the Coffee Share is no more.  I still see a sprinkling of “If We Were Having Coffee” posts, but I don’t see a link up.  I post so little about me, the coffee posts are one of the few places that I can do it.  So I guess I’ll start back up again, but as a Coffee Post, not a Coffee Share.

When I first started doing a Coffee Post about four (4!) years ago, I used them as a “what I blogged about last week” post.  I decided to drop that and just talk about my week.

So what have I been up to?  Oh, too much to tell!  Mostly work.  But some fun.  Anyway, I think this little “Turn the lights back on, start a fire in the fireplace, put a kettle on” post will be pretty short.

I will tell you that I have been down here on Cape Cod for a few days.  I can telework from here, which is great.  I’ve had Fiyero with me, and he’s been loving it.  We took a long walk on Chapin Beach this morning and he didn’t want to leave.  When we were entering the parking area, he laid down in the sand and won’t budge until I promised another walk.  So we walked 20 minutes.  He still didn’t want to leave!

I’m sure I will kayak this afternoon and walk in the woods.  I’ll spend as much time outside as possible!

Anyway, if you didn’t get it, that was a hint.  Yeah, I need to go back outside!  But I am glad that you stopped by.  It was nice to chat, even if for just a minute or two.

The Weekend Coffee Share was created by Part Time Monster

And it looks like I am wrong – Daisy Smiley Face is hosting a new share, which she calls Weekly Rewind.  I’ll still call this “If We Were Having Coffee”, but join her rewind.  Here  is this week, and her is the linkup.

Stopping by to say hello since our coffee share friends have gotten scattered. I hope everyone finds the new link ups – Weekly Rewind at Daisy Smiley Face and Weekend Coffee Share at Eclectic Alli’s.. :-) I thought of you several weeks ago – I took my last kayak trip of the year (very likely). It was a gorgeous fall day in the 70s. I will miss it so much over the winter.

Thanks for checking up! I may do a coffee post today – I didn’t have time yesterday. If i do, I’ll try to link up both with Tara/Daisy Smiling Face and Eclectic Alli.

I am going to try to get out on the kayak at least a couple of more times this year – I have some cold weather kayaking gear, so I might as well. We did have some unseasonably warm weather, so I actually went swimming in October this year. I’ll try to stop by later.

I’ve discovered that there is also another linkup at Eclectic Allie. I didn’t have time to check it out this week, but will next.

It does feel odd to have the usual coffee bunch scattered to the wind. Hopefully we can still keep up.

I’m not sure how I found the time! I do write very fast and usually post without editing, so that helps…. Up until this Spring I averaged closer to six or seven times a week, but then I started doing an online book, and I wanted to have another post that wasn’t related to it every day. So there was my six or seven posts plus a post a day for the serialized book. I needed a break when the book was done! (Also, I do not watch TV. ever.)

Post without editing? I would never- haha. Partially, because I work in PR and that’s a mess waiting to happen. I believe in show don’t tell, so I have to lead by example.

I’m a fast writer/typist, too, so I usually spend half an hour to an hour writing a post. They run anywhere from 500 – 2500 words. But then I spend as much as 6 hours editing…

What’s your book about? Are you doing NaNoWriMo this year?

I’m not doing NaNoWriMo. I always think I will, but then life happens ;)

The serialized book I was talking about is a kind of ghost story set in a small New Hampshire town. it centers around an old mill building and the original owner. Maybe ;)

Right now I’m in the middle of editing another New England ghost story, but this one a little more magical. It is set in the suburbs of Boston. I just finished the second draft, so have a long, long way to go, and may do a front to end rewrite. The first draft was also serialized on my blog.

And then there is a Fantasy that I just wrapped up as a serialized story on my blog, but this one is shorter and I did it one week at a time with no second post in the day.

And then, (you didn’t say which book ;) ), I recently self-published a book about the mythic Celtic Cauldron of Resurrection actually being found in the modern days. The hero has to fight against undead warriors (don’t want to call them zombies, but I sometimes do) and figure out a way to destroy the cauldron.

I’ve never done it before, but I’ve watched the madness unfold for years and decided to give it a go this year. 😊

Set in New Hampshire? Sounds like I might read them just to get the free trip back to your state.

You’ve been doing a lot of writing! How’s the PR and marketing for your books coming along?

PR and marketing? Hmmm.. cough, cough… hmmm…well… For the one I have released, pretty much non-existent. I know, you own a PR firm. I think I will be more ready to market the next book (ghost story in Boston suburbs), mostly because I think it’s a better book than the one I have out.

I just finished serializing the book set in New Hampshire so it is still up on the blog (I’ll leave it up for about 6 months). I wrote the 2nd chapter as a stand alone, and then later decided to do something with it. Anyway, remembering that it is rough draft, you can find it here: https://trentsworldblog.wordpress.com/writing/fiction/the-old-mill/

              Good luck on the NaNoWriMo!

Right now I “traditionally” self-published one and plan on doing the others eventually. I wrote them as serial stories, and will take them down and rewrite them before publishing. The one I am working on now, I had on my blog 2 years ago and took down 6 months later. So in someways it is great in that I got a lot of feedback on the rough draft, so it gave me ideas of what to do with it now that I am continuing to fix it.

Yeah, I get it. Funny thing is, I never mean to do a serialized novel! I write a one off story. Then expand it. And then I discover I have a much bigger story on my hands. One way I figure it is that if someone takes the idea, it will never be the same book. I do take them down soon after putting up the last chapter.

I tried to click on the weekend coffee share link in an old post. It says her blog is private now. I wonder why she closed it. I loved it but maybe it got too much for her. I just post whenever I feel I have something to write about. I mostly want to write at night and I am on my Kindle and it is impossible to write something on that. I love when you write something. Thank you for commenting on my blog.

I’m not sure why she stopped. I know that Nerd in the Brain grew tired of it and couldn’t keep up and Diana (Part Time Monster) took it back, but I think she really didn’t want it back, and it died shortly there after.

It’s possible I might moss posts, but when I see you post, I do like to take a look. Today it was really worth it – I thought the “rock art” was great. So your welcome, but no need to thank me for doing something I enjoy :)

The sand is very cool looking – I have tons of photos of just sand, but I liked having Fiyero in there too.

Years ago when I lived for a few months in South Carolina, I found a lot of fossilized sharks teeth. But I haven’t found any up here on Cape Cod. I did once find a dead shark and went back there a few weeks later to see if I could find any, but there wasn’t any.

I’m glad it stopped raining for a while. The damp was getting to us. And yes, it’s pretty chilly here, too but I’m not turning the heat on quite yet. A couple of days and then, I’ll flick the thermostats upward and winter will come. The cape seems like a good place to be. It’s probably warmer there.

It was beautiful day here, and reached almost 65. But then, looking at the weather, back home (other home) in NH it was almost 70! No, I haven’t turned on the heat yet, either. I hope to make at at least until November.

I had been wondering about the linkup, thought I missed something since I only participate on the first weekend of the month. It is nice to still see a few coffee posts popping up though. I love the picture of you boxer! It is funny how they have their own little ideas about what is supposed to happen (particularly those long or extra walks.) Great post, thanks for sharing.

Boxers can be very stubborn, and Fiyero does have a mind of his own. If you didn’t see it (I just added it to the post), there is a new linkup with some of the same people as the last. I’m still going to call this “If We Were Having Coffee”, but the new linkup is “The Weekly Rewind”.
