Theater of 2016

PHOTO PROMPT © Shaktiki Sharma

I remember the theater, the old-fashioned opulence and the stage in front of the screen.  Besides the latest films, they would have plays, bands and special appearances by famous authors and sports stars.  I was still a child when it was torn down.

But here it was, all new and lit up.  There were no names in the glowing marquee.  Everyone ignored the theater, but I went in.

A large sign in the lobby said, “Welcome Class of 2016”.  The list of names ran on and on, so many A-list celebrities.  I turned to leave, but there were no doors out.

Thanks. Sometimes we do get hemmed in by our passions. I think it is sad that for so many people their passions aren’t their own lives but the lives of others (though I will miss David Bowie ;) )
