Reminder #weeklysmile 36

Weekly Smile #WeeklySmile

Weekly Smile #WeeklySmile

Our last dog, Elliiot Carter, learned to swim while still a puppy.  He loved the water, you’d think he was a lab instead of a boxer!  He swam better than any dog I’d ever seen.  Fiyero and Idina, on the other hand, haven’t really had a chance.  We’ve brought them to the beach, but it’s been off season and we didn’t go into the water.

Swimming. Elliot loved to swim. We usually used a life jacket to keep his hind end up, but he would often jump into the water on his own. Cape Cod in 2011.

On Friday and Saturday we took the dogs to the beach.  On Friday Fiyero went in but wasn’t 100% sure.  idian did not go near the water.  on Saturday Fiyero swam around a little and looked a lot better.  idina still refused to go in.  It was fun to watch them, though, and I let them play a bit on the beach.  They were pretty tuckered out!  I smiled as i watched them play and as I watched them nap afterwards!

What made you smile this week?

If you haven’t seen it, here is a little background to The Weekly Smile as well as some quick guidelines.

So, what made you smile this week? Write about it and post on the link-up (or click the little blue frog below). While you’re there, read what everyone else is smiling about! And come back to it later, if last week is any indication new smiles will be added daily!

Note – the weekly smile runs Wednesday Morning to Wednesday morning.  I post in the morning (Eastern US) and put up the link usually between 7 and 8 AM EST.  I also try to post on Sunday as a reminder.  People can and do join throughout the week.

I am glad they got to experience the water I bet they will end up loving it. Daisy has two kiddie pools one in the front and one in the back yard she uses them to cool off after playing fetch on a hot Texas day. I need to take her back to the beach she loved it last time.

There are a few places I can take them swimming, but most beaches don’t allow dogs in the summer. We’re going to try harder next year. Hopefully Idina will get used to it enough to get wet.
