Yeah, I’m late. I like to have the smile up no later than 8 AM EST and usually try for 7:30. I just opened this and it is already 8:30. I got bogged down with work.
In the not too distant past I felt underemployed. Sure, I was being paid plenty for my efforts, it’s just that my efforts were too small. I felt I needed to do more, a lot more. Well, those who follow my blog my may know that my wish came true. I am doing a lot more. Much of it is high profile with people at the top of the org chart cc:ed in the emails. A lot of it pushes me into new territory, breaking boundaries I have made.
Anyone who has at different times felt both underemployed and pushed to their limits by their job have to know the feeling of satisfaction of the later. Truthfully, I don’t understand people who are lazy, it would seem that they miss most of what life is about – the challenges, the pushing ahead, the creating a path, boldly going, etc. They miss the satisfaction. That is my smile this week, the satisfaction of pushing my personal boundaries at work.
It might seem weird to some people, but my smile this week is work. OK, more specifically, my smile is the satisfaction I get from pushing boundaries at work.
So that’s my smile: The satisfaction of pushing my personal boundaries at work. (sorry if I’m repetitive)
