The Waiting Room

PHOTO PROMPT © J Hardy Carroll

After entering the crowded room and finding the lone empty spot, I sat and waited to hear my name called.  For hour upon painful hour I waited, listening as each name was called in turn and another seat was vacated.

After an eternity the room was empty, empty, that is, except for me.  The lights turned off leaving me alone in the dark.  I got up and passed through the door to another room.

After entering the crowded room and finding the lone empty spot, I sat and waited to hear my name called.  It all seemed vaguely familiar.

I think this is the second or third time in the last month or so that I used a Friday Fictioneer prompt to describe a personal hell. perhaps I need to do a series….
