Weekly Smile Week 19 #weeklysmile

Last week was not the greatest week weather-wise.  From Sunday to Sunday it rained every day.  Most of the time it was cold, the temperatures hovering around 47 F/8 C.  That’s not freezing, of course, but with the constant rain it gets bone chilling, particularly when you look at the calendar and notice it is May and all of your winter clothing has been packed away for the year.

Sunday afternoon the sun came out.  And it warmed up on Monday.  Tuesday was even sunnier warmer.  Today will be nicer yet.

Funny thing, there is that old saying “April showers bring May flowers.”  During the last week of April we had constant fire-danger warnings because it was so dry.  Dry and brown.  A week of soaking rain later and it is no longer brown.

The trees have all gone from buds to actual little leaves.  Every flowering tree imaginable is flowering, cherry, apple, dogwood, etc.   The grass is green and growing: I have to mow the lawn this week.  The birds are singing and the black flies are swarming.  Actually, the black flies have been active for about a month and is not the thing I look forward to the most about Spring in NH.

But that is what it is, Spring.  Spring has sprung.  It is beautiful!  In the last couple of months we’ve had warmer days, but there is a totally different feeling to the air.  It smells like Spring, feels like Spring, sounds like Spring, tastes like Spring.

So that is my smile this week: Spring arrives at last!

What made you smile this week?

If you haven’t seen it, here is a little background to The Weekly Smile as well as some quick guidelines.

So, what made you smile this week? Write about it and post on the link-up (or click the little blue frog below). While you’re there, read what everyone else is smiling about! And come back to it later, if last week is any indication new smiles will be added daily!

Thanks. Fall is the best time of year around here, but the few weeks of real spring, when the trees are leafing out and flowering is great in its own way too. The return of life…

Isn’t it wonderful to watch the world renew itself each Spring? It makes you feel like anything is possible. Our “Smiles” this week are part of a theme, it seems! 😊

After your late snow falls I’m glad you finally have spring. Fall is by far the best season here. Spring is usually cool and damp and brings a lot of black flies and mud.

We have been up and down here, going from hot to cold seemingly overnight. I don’t need summer any time soon, but hopefully this time it stays spring! I hope you are enjoying your spring!
