Friday Fictioneers – The Town Meeting

“The land is for every creature!”

“Our town needs jobs! We need the resources!”

The moderator grew uneasy. His company had called the meeting to inform the town about the development plans. It was supposed to be quick and easy, but the meeting was turning into a mob.  Actually, it was two mobs on polar opposite sides of the issues. The voices were growing more and more heated.

A shot. People ran screaming.

The gunman had a sign that said, “Jobs, not birds”.

After removing his costume, the paramedics worked on the man with the “Birds have rights” sign.

I decided to try my hand at this week’s Friday Fictioneer, a story of 100 words or less (mine is 100 eve) based on an image, this week a photo by Luther Siler.  Click here to join.

      Thanks Rochelle!
I follow several people who participate and have wanted to for a while. It’s a fun challenge and with only 100 words is short enough that it leaves me time to write a longer story for Fridays. (I try to post an original story every Friday, typically around 1000 words, but some have been up to 4000 words…) I look forward to participating in the future! And don’t worry, most of my stories aren’t this dark ;)

A story will told realistic or not
time is free but we still seal clocks
jobs or birds; which will it be
don’t ask to see only one side of a tree
realistic reality you placed in our hand
it’s better then sticking our head in the sand

A story that made’s us think. I call that a good story.

“Those who shout the loudest, win” seems to be the saying of the day. Sometimes I see things and immediately see a happy ending. Other times my mind takes a walk on the dark side ;) Unfortunately there have been some meetings around here almost like this but without the guns.
