Cat’s Eye – Throwback Thursday

cats-eye

Years ago my boss walked into my office, let out a little gasp and involuntarily jumped.  She had come face to face with a giant eye.  Yes, this was once the desktop image on my computer and it did shock some people (click on the image for more detail, if you dare :)).  Was it the eye of a giant?  Perhaps a tiger.  Well, no.

Bartelby - Paint

The subject matter was my award winning cat, Bartelby.  Besides being the subject of an award winning painting, he was the subject of many, many photos.

Bartelby

One day I was playing with a macro lens and needed a subject.  Bartelby was sitting there looking up at me, a kitty smile on his little kitty cat face.  How could I resist?  So a great cat’s eye macro was created.

What's in there

Bart was our first cat.  He lived into his teens.  I still miss him.

Oh Wow, that is one stunning image you took Trent. Brilliant ! Did you paint that picture too?!

And that’s one beautiful Cat, I lost my Persian named Simba years ago but I still miss him too. I’ve always been more of a cat person. But I guess you are both ! :)

Thanks Zee! Yes, the painting is mine. I have a cousin who used to show Persians and still raises them. My brother has always gotten kittens from her. Beautiful cats. I was always a cat person, but over the last few years I’ve grown more fond of dogs – dogs are much more demanding of attention and become more like children.

Thanks Zee! Though sometimes I feel like I am a student of many arts and a master at none ;) I haven’t posted many drawings/paintings/computer drawings lately, but for the most part all of the art work on my blog were things I did. I’m glad you like the coffee ;)

Yesterday my mind wasn’t working – I was trying to remember “jack of all trades, master of none” and for some reason my brain was on vacation. Maybe my vacationing brain was why I thought you smoked ;)

Maybe some very low end gallery….

Haha, Well if it makes you feel any better my brain is on vacation half of the time. Because there have been so many times when I can’t remember a fairly simple word that I have to use so I use Google for it. Thanks Google for saving my ass !

I’ve Googled simple terms a few times too. Usually I’ll write the word, read it and think I used the wrong word so I Google it to see if I had the right meaning. Usually I do, but it’s good to be sure…

Ah, I remember it well. Actually, I used to test pretty well. Recently, though, I’ve had some classes for work, and when exam times comes around, well, my brain stays home ;)

Great kitty shots and the award winning picture is fantastic. The post where you showed the steps you used to render it from a photo is so cool. We lost a kitty in April, it’s hard. They are such a unique part of the house and each cat has a character all their own. There is no replacing a beloved cat, you learn to love again, but you never forget.

Thanks! Yes,it is hard when we lose the furry members of our family. And you are right, they each have their own individual character and personality. While we may have other cats enter our lives, they are their own beings, not replacements.
