Hello and welcome! As you can tell from the picture I’m down at the cottage on Cape Cod today so I can grab you a Beatles mug and fill it with a strong French Roast, cup of tea, hot cocoa or other warm beverage. It will be a cold and nasty day with rain, snow, sleet and other such things falling from the sky so you’ll want a warm beverage. Oh, since it’s a special day I’ll let you know I’m doing something different. I’m drinking my strong French Roast out of a Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon mug. I wish I had a Wish You Were here mug since that’s my favorite, but this is cool.
I’m going to try to post this at 9:26 AM so I hit pi day as close as possible. I’m using my cell phone clock as that will be the most accurate. I may be a huge math nerd, but the timing of my post and this paragraph are my only planned pi day activities. Pi day, yeah, you can just sine me off. I mean, it’s cool and all, but all of this circular talk and hubbub. It’s irrational, I tell you, and it just goes on forever without any clear pattern I can see. So I’m giving it a wide circumference and moving on to a different area, just going to get on a radius and plot an arc out of here. I may not be a genius, but one thing I do know – pie are not square, they’re round!
It’s been a pretty good week. Last Saturday, following a challenge by Idiot Writer, I used one of her pictures as inspiration to write and record a rock song. It’s been a while since I’ve done this and I’m not unhappy about the outcome, particularly since it is a really quick job. I may go back and do a more professional job rerecording it.
I need to start drawing again. Yesterday a drawing by Somber Scribbler inspired me to make a drawing using a similar subject. My drawing is in a very different style than her drawing, but I kind of like it.
I usually don’t say much about the fiction I write for my Friday posts, but I really liked this week’s story and very few people saw it, mostly because I put up the drawing which drew (yes, a bad pun) everyone’s attention. A little different for me, it’s set just before the start of WWI. I think people also may have missed it because of a WP glitch.
The last two weeks I complained about my blog views. This week I won’t because the numbers were pretty good. What I will complain about is that for over a 24 hours Thursday to Friday I had no views from outside of the US even though I had two new posts. In fact, only about 36 hours later did International posts start to trickle in. I know, the stats will drive me crazy. Well too late, I’m already crazy. Can’t you tell? That was not meant to be a slight on anyone with any type of mental health issues or to minimize them in any way!
The 1000 Voices Speak for Compassion champagne is still alive and well! I did a post earlier in the week “advertising” their next event. Again it will be on the 20th. So get ready to post something on 20 March, 2015. The topic for this month will be “Building from Bullying” but if you cannot write a post about bullying for any reason, you can still write about compassion. Like the pirate’s code, the topic is a suggestion, not a requirement. Also remember, this is about compassion so we want a relatively positive take on the subject. Sound impossible? Look at my post for ideas.
I invite you over to the 1000 Voices Speak for Compassion on their blog site and their Facebook Page. And I encourage you to visit the “linky” so you can see all of the wonderful posts that were put up about compassion on February 20.
I will leave you with my little personal motto for the compassion campaign:
Empathy is the glue that holds society together and compassion is what makes a group of people a civilization. Without holding our hands out to our fellow humans we become savages. We are all in this together, in a closed system, so we must all help each other. How lonely life must be for those selfish people who don’t realize this simple truth! How lonely for anyone who doesn’t realize that all are our brothers and sisters! How lonely must the self-righteous be!
Hope you all have a great week !
